An app found me this restaurant by counting calories from a photo of my plate. The steak was good and had plenty of protein for my remaining daily limit. The service was efficient and the dining room was clean.

Absolutely enjoyed everything about this place! Everyone was so nice, Maddie our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and totally on top of everything. My steak was cooked perfectly and everything was so tasty and well thought out; down to the service, peach mocktail, and even the butter! 10/10 recommend

Service is amazing. It stays busy even at early hours because prices are extremely reasonable. Bone in ribeye cooked to perfection. Scalloped potatoes and Mac and cheese were all delicious. Onion rings and shrimp cocktail were fantastic. The crab cakes were the only underwhelming item as I felt they were a bit under seasoned and needed more cook time. Go here now!

I have been a patron of J Gilbert's for over 20 years. Every special occasion has been spent there with consistently, reliably great food. Last night for my birthday, I order the 6 oz filet mignon, medium, as I have done more times than I can remember. Always beautiful, plump, and perfectly prepared. Not sure if it's the sign of the times, but last night was such a disappointment. Couldn't have been more than 1/2" thick, well done, tasted like a hockey puck. My friend ordered the 8 oz, virtually no difference in size. We inquired from the employee, who brought our dinners to our table, to confirm orders were correct. She went back to kitchen and returned with confirmation. In addition to being disappointed with our meals, our server, Kim, ended up being assigned to a private party, so after our initial ordering, never saw her again. Although Kim was pleasant, we were totally ignored the rest of the evening. We finally flagged down an employee cleaning tables in order to secure our check. My friend wanted to order me a dessert for my birthday with an after-dinner liquore, to try and salvage a horrible experience, but a waste of time attempting to wave down for further service. I sincerely hope this is a one-off, however, unfortunately, it will be a while before we return. I never write poor reviews, however, this time it couldn't be ignored.

I know this restaurant is highly lauded. It is known for its steaks, etc. My wife and I have been there several times over the years. We went there last week and we each ordered the ribeye. The service was excellent. I had a baked potato as a side. SALT BOMB CITY. The steak was over salted. The potato was covered with salt like a pretzel to the point that I could not eat the skin which is my favorite part. J GILBERTS--PLEASE LET ME DECIDE HOW MUCH SALT GOES ON MY FOOD. Thank you.
