- YUY UwsAug 31, 20264.0A newly opened gas station selling fried chicken? This could either be a hidden gem or a terrible (and perhaps dangerous) idea. I finally mustered up the courage to go in and was pleasantly surprised. The food case looked clean with fresh looking chicken and tenders sitting on gleaming stainless steel trays. The convenience store itself looked well kept with a slushy machine inside. They even had a cigar humidor. But now for the food... As I learned Krispy Krunchy Chicken is actually a nation-wide chain with origins in Louisiana, which explains the uncanny resemblance and taste with Popeyes. They apparently fry their food on the premises. The white breast meat fingers were well-seasoned and perfectly crispy. The potato wedges were the star--again nicely seasoned and crispy. The biscuits are better than Popeyes. There are plenty of other options but if you need some gas and a quick lunch, I wouldn't hesitate to go there. It's also a pretty good deal.
