The cashiers are friendly however the store charges for paper bags. When I asked why, I was told its a Connecticut "bag tax" . THERE IS NO CONNECTICUT BAG TAX anymore!!! Especially for PAPER BAGS. Stop and Shop has since COVID switched from plastic bags (for which there was a TEMPORARY bag tax on Plastic bags which are now banned in Connecticut) to paper bags and then changed to significantly cheaper thinner paper bags. However they continue to charge 10 cents a bag. It is pure Corporate greed. The thinner bags routinely tear out. I have been a loyal Stop and Shop customer for over 40 years and I find this absolutely disgusting. I have yet to find another store in the area that does this!!!!

Absolute worst experience using their delivery service. Delivery person came to my door and aggressively banged on door for 15 minutes when the instructions specifically stated to leave at the door and put on bench, knowing I would be predisposed at the selected delivery time. When I called the store to inquire as to what was going on (40 minutes in total) customer service rerouted my call five times while putting me on hold before I was able to speak with someone that was able to assist, in which they insisted I knowingly selected hand to hand delivery and that any “special” delivery instructions I specifically entered under “delivery instructions” not “special delivery instructions” were null and void. I specifically left instructions to avoid confusion in which the system allowed me to leave those instructions only to find out Stop & Shops low budget horrendous system automatically requires hand to hand delivery unless you specifically check your confirmation email and happen to notice that it automatically required hand to hand service in which you than need to call the store directly to change. It makes sense why Stop & Shops are closing down, unfortunately their technology cannot keep up with other stores such as Whole Foods. I never experience anywhere near the same amount of issues I do with them with any other store. Waiting half a year to a year to order from Stop & Shop after the last mishap showed me they are not improving with time but instead getting worst. Disappointing.
