  The store is very clean but, they need more people at check out stations. I went in today around 1:30 and while the gentleman who checked me out was very kind i can tell he was stressed having to deal with lots of people and continuously having to contact his manager.

  ⭐ One star Safeway managed to make a cake that was chocolate everywhere except inside the actual cake. I specifically ordered a chocolate cake with white buttercream for my wife’s birthday. The finished cake had a Safeway sticker identifying it as chocolate, along with the date and price. Plot twist: when we cut into it during her birthday celebration, the cake was completely white inside. Mistakes happen. The response was considerably worse. I called the store, explained that I had discarded the receipt, and described the photos I had: the white interior and the Safeway label showing that it was supposed to be chocolate, including the date and price. I was explicitly told that this would be sufficient for a refund and that I should come in and ask for Teresa. When I arrived and asked for Teresa, she was immediately unpleasant—not only toward me, but toward the employees helping me. She refused the refund unless I produced the discarded receipt or downloaded the Safeway app, created/logged into an account, and located the purchase there. I also showed her the transaction on my credit-card statement, but apparently the cake itself, Safeway’s own dated and priced label, photographic evidence of the error, the credit-card transaction, and the instructions I had just received by phone still weren’t enough evidence that Safeway had sold me the wrong cake. There was no apology, no attempt to make the situation right, and no offer to provide the chocolate cake we had actually ordered. Just hostility and a new set of requirements after I had already been told to drive to the store for the refund. The original mistake was disappointing but understandable. Turning a simple bakery error into an argument with a customer—after telling him exactly what evidence to bring—is a management and customer-service failure. If you order a chocolate cake here, apparently you should request a core sample before leaving the bakery. And whatever you do, preserve your receipt as though it were a property deed, because Safeway’s own label may not be accepted as proof that Safeway made the cake.

  One would think having someone staffing/working the meat counter would be a top priority on Sunday? Management, lots of people waited and waited for help at the meat counter... Many customers circled back numerous times... Shelf stocking staff and store shopping staff witnessed the problem. Not a single employee did a thing about it... Very disapointing. Safeway can do better.

  I just bought the EL BURRITO SOYRIZO AND ON THE PACKAGE WHEN I WAS COOKING IT. SAYS THIS PRODUCT CAN EXPOSE YOU TO LEAD , ON THE WARNING LABEL. WHAT THE HELL I AM NOT EATING THIS NOW. ITS IN THE OVEN. NO THANK YOU. WHY IS SAFEWAY SELLING THAT?????????? WENT BACK TO SAFEWAY THIS WEEK MORE BAD NEWS I PURCHASED VEGGIE AND IN DAYS IT WENT BAD!!!! NEXT I DO TO BUY COFFEE AND IT WENT FROM 5.99 TO 10.99 I PUT IT BACK. I THEN WENT TO KING SUPERS COFFEE 5.99 I GOT TWO. I AM DONE WITH SAFEWAY.
