This store retroactively changed the price of our purchase after we checked out, resulting in a $195 unauthorized overcharge on our account.
On May 22, we participated in a "Buy 2, Get 3 Free" promotion on sodas. Our cart total at checkout was finalized and authorized for $209.48. However, after processing, the store unilaterally changed the price to $404.61, claiming after the fact that we had exceeded a corporate "limit"—even though no limit was advertised anywhere on the circular, the app, or the in-store signage.
This is fundamentally deceptive. If a limit exists, the register should cap the discount immediately, not bait a high-volume purchase and then force through a massive upcharge later.
We have now contacted corporate customer service four times, the local general manager, and the district manager. Despite this, management has refused to honor the agreed-upon price. This location is now engaging in unauthorized financial billing. Do not trust the final price at checkout here. Watch your banking app closely. Zero stars.

Edited to add: Don't let the auto response from the "owner" fool you. I have been in touch with corporate, the store, and the district manager and they have made it clear that they don't care about the customer, my experience, or my $195 they took from me. This review response is nothing more than PR lies.
I am absolutely furious with this location. This store unauthorizedly charged my account $404 after explicitly stating the total would only be $209.
When a business doubles a charge without authorization, it is a massive breach of trust and an incredibly deceptive financial practice. I was told one amount, and they took twice as much.
Trying to get this resolved has been an absolute nightmare. The lack of accountability and basic customer service here is appalling. If you value your hard-earned money and don't want a business overcharging your bank account, do not shop here.
I am immediately filing a formal dispute and a chargeback with my bank, contacting corporate, and reporting this location. Check your receipts and bank statements very closely, because this place cannot be trusted.
0/10 stars. Unacceptable.

I had to laugh at the tomato I had ordered, regular, round, the substitution was tomato on the vine, photo was nice and round, ended up with a rather small Roma tomato. Was I to believe there wasn't a single regular tomato in the store?

I had a very disappointing experience at Safeway Store #892 located at 3840 E 104th Ave, Thornton, CO on 5/20/2026 around 4:53 PM.
We stopped in quickly to buy pizza crust so we could make homemade pizzas, and while shopping we noticed the floral department had been moved. We looked at the flowers because we shop at this Safeway constantly and buy flowers there often. We found a beautiful flower arrangement clearly marked with a floral department sticker showing $14.99. Some of the flowers were damaged, so we assumed it had been marked down.
When we checked out at self-checkout, the arrangement rang up at around $46. The self-checkout employee who assisted us was extremely polite, understanding, and professional. She acknowledged that the pricing confusion was understandable because one sticker was covering another price tag. She handled the situation kindly and respectfully.
Unfortunately, the manager, Catherine, handled it completely differently. Instead of approaching us professionally, she immediately started cutting the sticker off the arrangement and accusing us of putting the markdown sticker on the flowers ourselves in an attempt to get a lower price. It was embarrassing, rude, and completely inappropriate. We were treated as if we were trying to steal or scam the store, despite the sticker clearly being from Safeway’s floral department.
We shop at this store almost daily and have never experienced anything like this. Mistakes happen, and if the store couldn’t honor the marked price, that would have been understandable. What was unacceptable was the accusatory attitude and lack of customer service. No apology, no attempt to compromise, no effort to de-escalate the situation — just rude behavior and public embarrassment.
I called the next morning hoping to speak with someone above Catherine to make the store aware of the issue. While the manager I spoke with was not outright rude, the concern was brushed off with little interest or accountability.
Very disappointed in how loyal customers were treated over what was clearly a store labeling issue.
