- DDDanielSep 18, 20265.0Not bad, but also very standard. I often hear people praise Moose Hill Cantina. While I cannot say the food is bad, I can say it is very average. This restaurant falls into the standard Denver Mexican restaurant. Good food, but there are at least 100 restaurants in town that have the same menu, the same (not spicy in the least) green chili. I am a Denver native and love my green chili and while not bad, there is nothing special or different about the chili here compared to 100 other places. Having said that, the food was good. The chips and salsa use the old corn chips similar to Taco House that I enjoyed and the tray with chips and a few smaller salsas was a nice touch. As I said before, the green chili had zero spice and was very standard for the front range but not bad. The service was good. The waiter was friendly and the order came out reasonably quickly. The decor is nice. I enjoyed sitting on the patio. I for one am a fan of Colfax so I enjoyed the people watching while I ate. The last time I ate at Moose Hill was probably 20 years ago. I came back and it was just as I remembered it. Standard Denver style Mexican food, and there is nothing wrong with that.

When we came in, one of the staff, long dark hair pulled into a ponytail, was playing on her phone standing in the lobby. She looked at us, didn’t say a word to staff, or us for that matter, and walked away. Another employee walked out from the kitchen and did not acknowledge us as well. Mind you, she was carrying a lot of drinks in her hands, but again, no acknowledgment. Nothing. After standing there for about 5 minuets we left. There is no point to spend my money at a place that can’t even have the simple courtesy of greeting you or making an effort to communicate with their clients. Incredibly disappointed
