  Sadly the service was horrible. It's lunch time an you expect to get Punctual service. At the hot food chicken dinner counter, the service lady with brown shoulder length hair delayed service. There was no one else in line. She should be terminated.

  Yvonne is the friendliest cashier! I would avoid Wendy. She's rude. Management is hit or miss depending on who helps you. Could use some work. A bit overpriced.

  I Called and asked for a salad was told they had it. I got there after I drove across town and they didn't have it. Then every thing there looked like it should of been thrown away and redone. There was six people standing around no one asked if I needed help. That explains why I go to the one on 29 Rd or the one on the Redlands.

  Clint in the meat department has always been helpful and Hunter in the deli is my new favorite because he is super helpful at making my order exactly like I want it. There is a good team of people there and living midway between Safeway and City Market I have a choice which way I turn.I always go North because of the service. Thanks guys. You got my business!

  I'll preface this up front by saying: There are 3 Safeway stores in Grand Junction CO, and they share a main phone number. I did not know this to start. This was on 8/26/26, a Wednesday. I found the store closest to my hotel, and hit "call" icon on Google, waited for an answer, and asked for the bakery. A nice woman answered the bakery line. I asked how far in advance I needed to place a cake order. She told me it depends on how complicated the order. I explained I was in town to take care of some business and to surprise my mother for her 83rd birthday, and just needed a 1/4 sheet chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing (my mother's favorite). She asked if I wanted anything special added. I replied all I wanted was some milk chocolate flowers, and "Happy birthday Gracie (that's what my grand parents and Aunt called my mom all their lives). She said the order would only take about an hour. So I placed the order for pickup a few days later. I didn't consider confirming the location. I went to the bakery near my hotel on the appointed day to pick up the cake. I was horrified when the baker said there was no cake order for me at that location. She looked everywhere, Evan could not find it in her daily order sheet. She said she could have what I needed in about 45 minutes. But I needed to be at my mother's care facility in 20. I was getting very stressed that I wouldn't have Mom's favorite cake for her birthday, even though I knew she would forget 5 minutes after eating. Thankfully, there was a double layer chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing in the display. The baker was calling another store (not the one I ordered from), and told me they didn't have any order for me there either. Annoyed and worried, I looked up the call in my phone log and asked "Is this the number for this store?". She said it was, and realized what had happened. She explained to me about the shared line. At that point I felt more foolish than angry. I asked her if I could simply purchase the displayed cake and the wording added. She added the wording, and I made it to my mom's with time to spare. (Only 7 minutes from my hotel). The cake turned out to be a huge hit for Mom. Her eyes lit up the moment she saw and I told what it was made of her favorite. Since it was double layered, people only wanted a sliver. A few of the staff accepted the invitation to eat some, and a few other residents did as well. All sang "happy birthday". Mom decided she didn't like the lunch they served (I think she just wanted to dig into her cake). Which she gobbled up like she hadn't eaten in days. All turned out well and about half the cake was left. Safeway still gets 5 stars because it was just as much my fault for not confirming. The baker realized I was stressing, and did everything she could to make things right. And, everything turned out nicely, Mom was super happy, and she got to destroy 2 pieces of cake instead of assisted living food. (She's 83, with Alzheimer's and dementia, she can eat what ever she wants)! I guess the moral of the story would be to remember, when ordering something special in a small town, make sure to confirm the location, you might be on a party (multiple locations) line.
