Food was exceptional, especially the beef enchiladas with poblamo pepper and spinach sauce.
Chips were very crisp, and salsa had just the right amount of spice.
Fire alarm went off right after we sat down and run about 15 minutes. In spite of the headache that was building, this was the best Mexican food we've eaten, even though in Jacksonville, Texas where we live there's almost a Mexican restaurant on every corner.
Staying tonight in motel in Montrose, and there's a Mi Mexico right next door.
I was tempted, but went for sandwich instead.
Still wondering if they'd give me the recipe?
I went to Mi Mexico for the first time this evening. We just got margaritas. But the service was really awesome right from the start. The host was welcoming and so friendly. They seemed a little busy but our server got to us very promptly and was so sweet and great.
Definitely wil go here again for full course meal.
Thank you Moses
We tried out a few things: the enchilada plate, tacos carbón, and a shrimp cocktail. Gotta say, the shrimp cocktail was absolutely fantastic! The tacos were good, and the salsa and chips were tasty too. The beans and rice that came with the enchilada plate were also pretty good. The only thing that wasn't quite hitting the mark was the red chile sauce on the enchilada plate.
I am writing to share some feedback regarding my recent dining experience at your restaurant.
While the decor was very nice, I found the food to be lacking flavor and proper seasoning, and the tortillas were very hard. Given the quality, the prices felt too high for Mexican cuisine.
Moving forward, I will likely drive to Basalt to dine at El Koritas instead, as I prefer a different experience. I wanted to share this constructive feedback in hopes that it might be helpful for your team.

I was in the area looking for a good Mexican spot and had plenty of options upvalley to choose from. Mi Mexico was new to me and is relatively new itself, but I decided to take a chance on it—and it did not disappoint. I rarely write reviews unless a place truly earns it, but this one merited it.
Menu Selection
The menu is exceptionally well thought out, with a range of options that goes far beyond standard templates. It offers genuine variety and thoughtful regional choices without sacrificing consistency across the board.
Food Quality & Craft
The kitchen works with real technical skill. You can see it in the plating and taste it in the execution. Take the tamales, for instance—they arrived properly steamed in the husk with a spot-on masa texture, showing real care rather than a rushed, mass-produced approach. The refried and black beans and Mexican rice were fluffy and flavorful, clearly cooked fresh. No shortcuts here.
Service & Operations
Floor management is tight. Staff members are sharp, welcoming, and keep everything moving smoothly without making the experience feel transactional or rushed. They have the operation completely dialed.
Bar Program
A very respectable lineup. The cocktails were balanced and crisp—served in a proper red-rimmed glass with fresh mint and lime, not bogged down by heavy, artificial mixes.
Atmosphere & Decor
The restaurant is clean, inviting, and meticulously maintained. The decor feels intentional and authentic, featuring beautiful dark carved wood booth backs with classic wagon wheel cutouts and intricate paisley upholstery. It makes for a comfortable, quality environment for a solid meal.
