I’ve had consistently good experiences at this Chipotle during the day, but after two separate experiences with the night crew, I have to say: DO NOT GO HERE AFTER 9 PM.
I came in around 9 PM recently, a full two hours before closing, and it already felt like the employees had mentally clocked out and were more concerned with closing and getting chairs and food put up than serving customers.
I ordered a large side of queso. The employee working the line started filling it, ran out about halfway through, and called back for more queso. Another employee told him, “I have a fresh one for you.” He looked at her, looked at the fresh queso, looked back at the empty container, then looked down at my HALF FILLED large queso, shrugged his shoulders, and said, “Meh, it doesn’t matter.” He put the lid on it, slid it down the line, and asked, “What else can I do for you?”
I genuinely just stared at him for about 10 seconds because I couldn’t believe how little he cared about getting fresh queso that was ready for him to put on the line when the line was completely empty. I looked at the half filled queso, looked back at him, and he simply asked again, “Anything else for you?”
What bothered me wasn’t even the queso itself. It was the complete lack of care. He knew it wasn’t a full portion. Fresh queso was literally available behind him. Instead of taking a few seconds to give a customer what they paid for, his response was essentially, “Meh, it doesn’t matter.”
Unfortunately, this wasn’t an isolated experience.
The week before, I came in around 9:30 - 10 PM, again with roughly an hour or more before closing, and they were already breaking down the line and putting food away. I was told they were “out” of essentially everything except rice, beans, chicken, and cheese and that they couldn’t make anything else. I ended up leaving with a bowl consisting of exactly that.
There is a difference between preparing for closing and making customers feel like an inconvenience because they walked into an open restaurant during posted business hours. If you’re open until 11 PM, customers coming in at 9 or 10 PM should still receive reasonable food availability, proper portions, and basic effort.
The frustrating part is that my daytime experiences here have been the complete opposite. The daytime crew is awesome. They’re quick, they keep the food ready, they move with purpose and intentionality, and they consistently make some of the best put together Chipotle bowls I’ve had. The difference between the day and night crews is honestly remarkable.
But these night time experiences have been blatantly lackadaisical, indolent, and apathetic. Watching an employee knowingly hand me half of something I ordered and say word for word, “Meh, it doesn’t matter,” when a fresh container was right there, pretty much sums up the level of service I’ve experienced at night with this crew.
Key takeaway: Go during the day. Avoid this location after 9 PM. The difference in service, food availability, portions, and overall quality is night and day… literally.
