Unsanitary, uncomfortable experience and no response from corporate I used to eat at this Einstein Bros. location regularly, but I have not been back to this particular store since my visit on May 1 because I prefer not to eat where I have serious sanitation concerns. A little before 7:30 a.m., while I was trying to eat my bagel sandwich in relative peace, two unhoused men came into the store and were given free coffee and food by staff. Both men were extremely dirty, smelled strongly of body odor and feces, and had extremely poor hygiene. One of them had his pants sagging below his backside with no visible underwear. The best way I can describe it is like a real-life, 40-year-old version of Pigpen from Peanuts, except this wasn't a harmless cartoon; it was inside a restaurant where people were eating. One of the men handled the self-serve coffee and condiment area with visibly filthy hands, then sat near me and plugged in his chargers. The smell was strong enough that it affected my entire meal. Another man was also given a cup for coffee and used the same public coffee area. They had their hands all over the coffee station and on the tables. Let me be clear: The staff encouraged them to loiter and did not intervene, clean the area afterward or make any effort to protect paying customers from the obvious sanitation concern. The unhoused gentlemen didn't even have to say a word when they came in the store. They had a familiarity with staff that indicated they'd been doing this for a long time. They all knew the drill. They walk in, go to the counter, and the staff gives them free food and drink and lets them stay, presumably, for as long as they want while they charge their phones. My concern is not simply that unhoused people were present. My concern is that this is a restaurant serving food and drinks, and customers may unknowingly be touching surfaces, coffee equipment, lids, condiments, tables and other shared areas after have been handled by people who were smothered in the smell, and no doubt the actual molecules, of fecal material. That is not something customers should have to discover after they have already ordered and sat down to eat. I contacted Einstein Bros. corporate about this immediately after the visit and asked for an explanation. I followed up a second time and again asked to be contacted. As of now, no one from Einstein Bros. has followed up or offered any explanation. I am leaving this review because other customers should be able to make an informed decision before dining here. I used to enjoy eating here several days a week. Now, I can't imagine how much human waste I could have been unknowingly touching with my hands by simply touching the tables or the drink station. I personally have not returned since May 1, and I will not be going back unless this location takes sanitation, loitering and the comfort of paying customers seriously.

I love this place primarily because of the employees! They are always in a great mood, are kind, and very helpful. They also make bagels/sandwiches that are super high-quality. 5 stars all around.
