  Safeway is def the best shopping experience in town. It's really the employees that make it that way. I am sorry to see Michael go. He is good peoole. Cece is also wonderful. Jeannie is AWESOME. They are just always kind and helpful and make shopping not a stressful, but pleasant experience.

  It used to be a good place to shop, yes, the daily prices are higher than either city market or walmart grocery but the sale prices more than made up for it. However now more and more you have to clip their "digital" coupons that only work if you have the app on your phone. I realize the stupid among us think having lots of apps on your phone is no big deal, so i won't bother to go into how companies are using your information and not for the positive. So now, its more of a rarity to go to safeway in Cortez (or any safeway now). Questionable business practice.

  The manager, I believe her name is Donna, is a hero. She took it seriously when I was almost human trafficked today in the store. I noticed something off about a man immediately and watched him follow me in 3 aisles that weren’t next to each other before I started recording him. He seemed to be acting like an employee because he went halfway down the aisle and put something on the shelf as if he was restocking it, as if from a cart of abandoned items. He then acted like he was turning left at the end of the aisle before making a full turn and stopping at where he was now, at the opposite end of the aisle, staring at me for several seconds before proceeding to the right from the aisle. I second guessed myself for a moment thinking he might be an employee who’s just too “friendly” with female customers before realizing I was about to choose giving some loser I don’t know the benefit of the doubt over my own safety. I immediately went to the front desk and they called up a female manager with her hair in 2 long braids. She watched the man immediately and made sure he was removed from the store. He was native and I also noticed a native woman in the store who seemed to be paying an abnormal amount of attention to me and was strangely near me again and again, and women are often part of schemes like this. It’s definitely a bigger issue than the one guy, so be careful, especially if you have light skin and other characteristics that are highly valued by predators. These men are everywhere and they have women accomplices. THANK YOU DONNA (someone said that’s your name)!! I will absolutely always shop here because I know I’m safe, even with these horrific people around. Attached is a video of the perpetrator after I clued in to start recording in the third aisle. Do you know this man? He’s now being looked for by police since I made a report.
