  I have been going to the Castle Cafe for years and I always boast that they have the best fried chicken in Colorado. Well things have changed. I am not sure if they have a new cook or they are buying less quality chicken. I went there for Fathers Day and was very disappointed in the quality of chicken and fixings. Very bland. The legs were tiny and I had to keep salting my food to make it flavorful. To top it off I ordered an old fashioned and the bartender made it with vermouth instead of simple syrup, because they were out of simple syrup. Not acceptable. Whatever you are doing to your restaurant please go back to the way it was. We expected to wait for a table on Fathers Day but we were seated right away because it was half full. That says a lot.

  Great food, but you gotta be going for the pan fried chicken. Healthy portions with very good flavor. It can be noisy with lots of people. But from a place that was around back in the 1890's, I don't think they had sound dampening means. Perfect place to take the family.

  Great Atmosphere and great service very fast and friendly. The deviled eggs with bacon were fantastic. Thank you for a great time Castle Cafe.

  We ordered the pan fried chicken ($23 +tax) and the walleye fish ($31 + tax). Understandably there is a wait time on the chicken as they usually let you know that. Both dishes came out together, but shockingly the walleye fish was undercooked and rubbery in its thickest part. We showed the waiter who took the plate back and of course we had to wait for a new one to be prepared. The general manager is the person who brought us the new walleye fish plate. He did not apologize for them serving undercooked fish. He simply was gonna drop it off and basically just said there you go. Since there was a long delay in waiting for the remake, I asked if he could adjust our bill based on that. The GM said it’s their policy to just give you a new plate. Which of course is just the same thing we ordered and expected to be cooked properly the first time without the second unnecessary delay. I thought it was bad customer service that he could not even offer a small dessert or take a few dollars off the bill. Pretty disappointing as we’ve eaten here many times. In this economy, you would think that they would appreciate customers going there to spend their money.
