Great service and environment. On the expensive side and food was good but not quite worth the price. However My smoked Old Fashioned was.

We had the 3 course meal and some Octopus for starters. The Steak was good but too salty; the Bass was excellent; The cheesecake was a bit too sugary. Overall pretty good. May come back for the fish I think.

Saddened to write this review as this is usually the highlight of our trips when passing through or staying in Black Hawk for so many years. I started with the Smoked Rose Old Fashioned which had to be sent back because it tasted only like sweet cherries, no liquor (the waiter stated this was the case for another table's order as well). The second was delivered and tasted exactly the same but I didn't fee comfortable sending it back a second time so I ended up ordering a cabernet to be safe (I'll share more on the glass of wine later). For starters, we always order the Beet & Ricotta Salad and the Caesar (prepared tableside). I have pictures of the beet salad saved on my phone from years past because it's been my favorite for so long. The presentation was always perfect and the taste, to die for...but not this time. My first bite, I thought I may have broken a tooth. There were multiple hard shell-like pieces scattered throughout; enough to make me not want to chance eating the rest. The Caesar was very good. I ordered the filet (medium rare) and crab legs as my entree. The filet had so many fat/gristle lines throughout that made it impossible to cut with my steak knife in spots and the crab legs were so "veiny" with very little meat. As mentioned, I'm not the person to complain and honestly at this point, my husband and I began joking that someone must've had it in for me for complaining about my drink because surely everything I ordered could not have been this bad...but wait, there's more. I picked what I could from the crab legs and ate a few bites of my filet that I could get my knife through and left the rest. When I got to the last drink of my cabernet there was so much lees (sediment) in the bottom I had to spit it out. I understand fine wines can often contain lees but this was such an excessive amount that it left a huge lees line and deposit on and in my glass. Our bill total was over $400, not including tip. This was so very disappointing having enjoyed this restaurant for so many years. Not sure we could ever go back after this experience.

Great food and drinks! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-made. The drinks were spot-on, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. Friendly service too—definitely worth a visit.
