Very bland food, salsa taste like tomato paste with a bit of Tabasco sauce. I had a chimichanga enchilada style, it was ok, very little enchilada sauce on it. The guacamole was good. Service was mediocre.
I was starving and didn’t know what to get. My husband got fast food next door and said how about you order this place to go. So I did I got street tacos. Let me tell yall. It was so fast! When I got home everything was still hot and fresh. The horchata was 10/10! Rice was fluffy and flavorful. Definitely recommend! I do wish it came with more lime though. I should’ve asked for more. Overall great place and the lady who answered my call was very nice and enthusiastic!
Rancho Rustico is one of our family’s favorite restaurants. We especially enjoy the ease of ordering food to go. Food is amazingly delicious, is hot, and everything is packaged carefully. I appreciate the fact that they always pay attention to the special requests I add in the comments for our to go order. It really makes a sincere difference and why I continue coming back. Great food and superior service!
The first thing I noticed walking in was that the atmosphere was really cute! I was seated quickly, although it took a little while to get my drink and place my order considering how few customers were in the restaurant.
The salsa was disappointing. It tasted fairly vinegary and reminded me of an average medium jarred salsa, maybe a slight step above Tostitos. However, the chips were outstanding and tasted fresh.
I can usually get a sense of whether I’ll enjoy a Mexican restaurant by the salsa, so I decided to play it safe and order one of the less expensive lunch specials. I got the taco lunch special with ground beef. In my opinion, the menu was a bit expensive, even the lunch options.
I was pleasantly surprised when the food came out. It included rice and beans, which was a nice bonus, and I appreciated getting a crispy taco shell instead of the plain warmed flour tortilla that some restaurants use for lunch specials. Unfortunately, the ground beef reminded me a bit too much of Sloppy Joe in both flavor and texture. The rice was also a little bland.
Overall, I wouldn’t say the food was bad, it just wasn’t my style. To me, it leaned more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican (my preference). I’ve also had Tex-Mex that I’ve enjoyed, but this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I might give it one more try, but at these prices I’d probably choose somewhere else. La Frida, my current favorite, is similarly priced, but I think the food is much more enjoyable.
