I tried about 6 different Sonoran dogs while in Tucson and this was the worst. Subpar soggy bread and toppings and even the dog itself is lacking. Fancy and large facility though.

As much as I love to leave bad reviews I cannot here. The food is good, the atmosphere is normal, the prices reasonable. Food is served in a timely manner. No transients causing problems at least in my experiences.

Everything was delicious and staff was very friendly, tortilla chips were fresh and crispy. Sonoran hot dog is a must have! The bun was incredibly soft and fresh. Bathrooms were clean as well as the dining area. Perfect little spot, will definitely be on my recommendation list!

I don’t understand the hype. Charging almost $5 per street style taco for something this underwhelming is ridiculous. The South Tucson location is clean and looks nice inside, and I’ll give them credit—the service was fast. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The tacos were about as basic as they come: meat and cabbage with very little else going on. No flavor that justified the price, no generous portions, and nothing that made me think, “I need to come back.” At these prices, I expected tacos that would blow me away, not something I’d regret buying halfway through. There are too many better taco spots in Tucson serving tastier food for less money. This felt like paying premium prices for the bare minimum. Nice building, fast service, disappointing food. Won’t be back.

🌮 El Güero Canelo: We Came for Tacos… The Food Never Had a Chance This time, I walked in with the whole crew—my wife and our five kids. When I say the whole crew, I mean it looked like a youth soccer team just walked into the restaurant… except there was no referee, no coach, and definitely no substitutions. We were hungry. Not “let’s grab a snack” hungry. More like, “someone better bring food before we start reading the menu out loud and eating that instead.” After our last taco adventure, we were down 1-0. We needed tacos to tie the game. So we chose El Güero Canelo. We ordered enough food to make the kitchen wonder if a family reunion had just arrived. Honestly, I can’t even remember everything we ordered… …because once the food hit the table, it turned into complete chaos. Imagine a school of piranhas suddenly growing legs, grabbing forks, and attacking from every direction. That was my family. The burritos were the first thing that caught my attention. These things were almost the length of my arm. I’m convinced one burrito could comfortably feed three of my kids… or one teenager for about fifteen minutes. Then came the carne asada fries. Golden, crispy fries. Tender carne asada. Cheese everywhere. They disappeared so fast I started questioning whether they had ever existed. When the dust settled, there were only three lonely fries left on the tray, just standing there like the last survivors of an action movie. The Tocinachos—those bacon-wrapped chiles stuffed with cheese—didn’t stand a chance either. They came in looking proud… They left as a memory. Not even the stems survived. The carne asada nachos put up a respectable fight but were eliminated in the second round. The quesadilla with carne asada lasted a little longer… Not because nobody wanted it… Because everybody wanted it. By the time I remembered I was supposed to take pictures for my review, it was too late. There was nothing left to photograph except empty baskets, a few crumbs, and the evidence of a battle well fought. Basically… I wasn’t documenting the food anymore. I was documenting the aftermath. The food was fresh, the portions were generous, and everything we tried tasted great. Final Verdict 🌮 Food: 5 stars — Great flavor, generous portions, and enough food to keep a family of seven happy… at least until dessert. 😊 Service: 5 stars — Friendly, fast, and never looked concerned when our table ordered enough food to feed a small village. 🎬 Atmosphere: 5 stars — Relaxed, welcoming, and the perfect place for a family food battle. Bottom Line… If you’re in Tucson, El Güero Canelo deserves a stop. Just remember one thing… Take your food pictures before the first plate hits the table. Because if your family eats like mine… The only picture you’ll get is the crime scene after the food has disappeared. 🌮😂
