A group of 5 or 6 of us went as it was recommended to us. The food was quite good and arrived hot. I had lasagna, someone else had linguine. The service was quite good as well. It has a nice and cozy vibe. You feel like you got your monies worth and that they are not overcharging.

Services, phenomenal. Atmosphere, what you're looking for if you're looking to dine in an Italian spot like grandma did. Service was super friendly. Just an cold school Italian place an we loved it.

I had not been to Caruso’s in several years and was surprised to see the menu had been trimmed down to maybe a dozen entrées. Not necessarily a bad thing, but unfortunately the execution didn’t make up for the shorter lineup. The wife and I shared a salad, which was actually quite good and gave us hope. Sadly, the entrées arrived shortly thereafter and immediately placed that hope in witness protection. My wife ordered the Alfredo linguini ($22), and the portion was surprisingly small. The sauce was thin, bland, overloaded with nutmeg, and completely lacking in garlic flavor. Alfredo without garlic is like Sinatra without a microphone. I ordered the chicken parmesan ($24), not realizing this was apparently an interpretive modern-art version of chicken parm. Instead of the traditional preparation, I was served two roasted chicken breasts topped with what tasted and looked like listless canned tomatoes, a few sautéed mushrooms, and a thin veneer of melted cheese trying its best to hold the whole operation together emotionally. The chicken itself was a decent size, but here’s the real shocker: the entrée came with no pasta. None. Zero. Somewhere in Italy, a grandmother just threw a wooden spoon across the kitchen. This was honestly the first time I’ve ever left an Italian restaurant hungry, which feels almost mathematically impossible. It’s sad because Caruso’s has been a Tucson institution for many years. Unfortunately, the quality and overall experience seem to have gone downhill quite a bit.

Used to be my favorite Italian restaurant in Tucson until today. I'm not sure if it was a small piece of hard plastic or glass but I bit into it while trying to enjoy my Italian wedding soup. They took the soup off our bill which I appreciated but this could have been a dangerous situation if I had swallowed it as it was sharp. Please be cautious of broken glass or plastic shards while washing your dishes. While our server addressed our problems with the small shard of plastic/glass after we flagged her down, the service was generally poor and inattentive. Not sure if they were understaffed and if she was working the whole restaurant, and if that's the case they I ask managers to step up and be team players. Despite this the busboy who was working this evening 5/13 with the short dark hair and glasses was very attentive and kind. He would make a great server if he ever chooses that path. I hate to leave bad reviews especially since I work in customer service myself and am very understanding but the glass shard ruined my meal and caused a lot of anxiety. This makes me really sad because as I said this was one of my favorite restaurants and I don't think I'll be returning after this plus quality just going downhill in general over the last year and a half. First experience here was amazing, this recent one was not.
