We decided to try Amelia's kitchen for breakfast yesterday, Sunday August 16, 2026. We made reservations online for 11:00. When we got there there was a table they had to clean before we sat them. No big deal. It seemed very crowded. We were seated in the air conditioning section of the restaurant. The waitress came and took our order for drinks. She came back with the drinks and then she took our food order that was at 11:20. We never got a bowl of chips and salsa like some of the other tables did. As time went on we still hadn't gotten our order and hadn't seen our waitress. The servers started apologizing to people as they were waiting a long time for food. It was 50 minutes before we got served our food after we ordered and got our drinks. We didn't start eating until 12:10 . This is unacceptable. When we complained the waitress explained to us there was a problem in the kitchen and they were trying to figure it out cuz she said it her words, it was a huge mess. I couldn't believe how long it took. It was ridiculous. The food was good except the beans, they were actually burnt. They had a smoky burnt taste. I'm not sure what happened in the kitchen but I don't think I'm going to be coming back to this restaurant again for a while. I'm not sure what was going on but waiting 50 minutes to get your food is unacceptable and a manager should have come to our table to apologize. Especially after we complained about the wait. Everyone's food was extremely late. They should have at least offered us some chips and salsa which are free anyways to get us by until we got our meal. Very disappointed for a restaurant that has all this hype about a James Beard nomination. They definitely missed the mark with us!

Eddie was phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!!! Eddie was absolutely amazing! From the moment we sat down, he made us feel welcomed and genuinely taken care of. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, professional, and always seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even had to ask. What really stood out was his positive attitude and the way he made our entire dining experience feel special. You can tell Eddie truly cares about his guests and takes pride in providing excellent service. It’s not often that a server leaves such a lasting impression, but he definitely did. If you have the opportunity to be served by Eddie, you’re in great hands. He is an incredible representation of outstanding hospitality and customer service. 10/10 — we would absolutely ask for Eddie again!

The food was good—not amazing, but definitely enjoyable. The prices were very affordable, which was a plus. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Our waitress never recommended any drinks, appetizers, or desserts, which felt like a missed opportunity. Our water glasses were never refilled, and she didn’t ask if we wanted another round of drinks. She also wasn’t very friendly or welcoming. The kids even tried to make conversation with her, but she just stared and didn’t respond, which made the experience feel uncomfortable. For a local restaurant, I was hoping for a warmer, more personable dining experience. While the food is decent and reasonably priced, I think Tucson has better restaurants to offer, both in terms of food and customer service.

Took my 93-year-old mom to try out the margaritas that I had heard were amazing. We went early to avoid crowds and even though there were numerous tables inside that were large enough for two people, we were seated at a tiny round table (guessing around 20 inches round). I commented that the table seemed awfully small for two people, but I was ignored. I had raved about Amelia's to my mom because when I had breakfast there a few weeks before, it was excellent. The margaritas came and they were good, but not memorably good. The small table was our first disappointment and the margaritas didn't impress my mom. When our food came, it came on 4 plates instead of two, and the crowded table became impossible to navigate. The chips landed on the floor at some point (didn't notice them until we were leaving). The food was good but not exceptional. The music was much too loud and my mom and I had difficulty hearing one another. Disaster struck when I asked for two boxes to take our leftovers home. In my efforts to get the food into the boxes with virtually no room to do so, some salsa and my glass of water (thankfully only half full) landed in my lap. The waitress offered me a pile of napkins and tried to clear some of the plates off the table, but it was too late. The whole experience made me feel like we were unwanted house guests when I had wanted so much for my mom to enjoy herself. If Amelia's can learn anything from this, I hope they will not seat more than one person at that tiny round table unless they are there for drinks only. I was so disappointed by the negative experience that I probably won't go back again.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Amelia’s Mexican Kitchen was disappointing from beginning to end. My sister and I came in for brunch, excited to support a local business after hearing so many great things on social media. Unfortunately, our experience couldn’t have been more different As soon as we walked in, no one greeted us. We stood there for what felt like 10–15 minutes wondering if it was a seat\-yourself restaurant because every employee walked by without acknowledging us.Eventually, someone finally informed us that the only available seating was either at the bar or outside. We initially chose the bar, but the seating was unbelievably cramped. The stools were so small and packed together that an average-sized adult could barely fit comfortably\. We decided to move outside instead\. The misters made the patio comfortable, but that’s about the only positive part of our visit. From there, things only got worse. We waited over an hour before anyone even came to ask if we wanted drinks or to take our order. When someone finally did, the service came with a poor attitude, making us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers. After placing our order, we waited another hour for our food. Honestly, if I hadn’t asked about it, I’m not convinced it ever would have made it to our table\. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t worth the wait. My sister ordered a burrito and was surprised that it didn’t come with the traditional beans and rice on the side—instead, everything was wrapped inside the burrito. The meat looked gray, was full of tough connective tissue and nerves, and had very little flavor. Neither of us could finish our meals, partly because of the quality of the food and partly because we were so frustrated with the overall experience. When we were ready to leave, we asked for the check and, once again, were ignored for another 20 minutes. I come from a retail background, so I understand that businesses get busy and staffing can be challenging. I’m usually very patient and understanding. But there is no excuse for completely ignoring customers. A smile, communication, and basic customer service go a long way, and we experienced none of that. It’s disappointing because we specifically wanted to support a local restaurant\. Instead, we left feeling like our business wasn’t valued at all. I sincerely hope the owners take customer feedback seriously because there is a lot that needs to improve—from greeting guests and communication to service speed and food quality. If you’re reading this review because you saw Amelia’s all over TikTok or other social media, just remember that social media doesn’t always reflect the real customer experience. If the owners would like more details about our visit, I would be more than happy to discuss our experience\. I truly hope future customers receive a much better experience than we did.
