This is my local Safeway and I use to shop here often. However my last 3 visits have been disappointing, including today, 6/24/26. I often use the self check out since it tends to move quickly. During my last 3 trips, I noticed that the sale prices are not programmed into the system accurately so I usually have to ask for assistance. The short, dark hair gal that worked the self check out areas was rude and condescending. I showed her the sale sign and the huge container that the items were in and she insisted it was not part of the sale. I told her they should remove the sign and she said I’ll do you a flavor this ONE time and honor it! I was like, EXCUSE me? I don’t need any favors. I need this store, and the management to:
1. Get the sale signage correct and accurate
2. Train your front line peeps who interface with customers to communicate PROFESSIONALLY, and provide customer service!
I asked to speak to a manager, they grabbed a guy walking by, I shared my experience and it fell on deaf ears. I don’t think he was even a manager.
I stopped by customer service and spoke to the real store manager, Paige. She listened and assured me she would address the issue. Paige, I hope you train and hold your Tempe team accountable.
I left this store with a bad experience and that seems to be the trend for my last 3 visits.
Please ensure the signs are accurate and that your system recognizes the sale price you advertise . When gaps are identified, train your front line peeps to manage it efficiently and professionally.
The whole concept of a quick moving line for self check out is defeated when one has to stop and ask for help to fix a problem that could have been prevented!
A frustrated and disappointed customer,
Hanh

I have been shopping at this nearby Safeway since they first opened. Years ago it was well run with good prices and nice produce. I am now searching for a different store to do my regular shopping. The produce often looks terrible, even rotten (I've taken photos and sent them to my husband because I find it shockingly bad). They are frequently out of things. There are carts in the way of shoppers as they try to restock in the middle of the day. The lines to check out frequently are long, both in self-checkout and cashier lines. The prices are okay, not great. There may be only one or two filled bag dispensers in the produce section -- many are empty. And the one bag dispenser is attached above the shelves to something that is so flimsy I wouldn't be surprised if it fell as someone pulled a bag from it. I'm 70 years old, raised 3 kids and hosted all the holidays for my family using this store -- but no more. Its the poorest run grocery store now. Such a shame.
