Cafe Balkan Phoenix was a great spot. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service was friendly. The food was really enjoyable — especially the ćevapčići, ajvár, and baklava, all delicious. Everything had good flavour, though a few dishes felt a bit salty and slightly oily. Still, the highlights easily made up for it, and I would definitely come back again. Portion sizes were generous and it felt like a proper Balkan comfort meal in Phoenix. Service was nice, staff were kind, and I would recommend it for Balkan food cravings. I’m from Central Europe and highly appreciate places and flavors like this.

Excellent food and service! Was recommended to stop in and try anything and everything. Had the sarma and lamb gyro entrees, with tons more to try at home. This will definitely be a go-to for us. Cannot get over how warm and friendly the employees are. Highly recommend!

Was really excited, as I initially saw the place advertised on TikTok and had high expectations from the 4.9 star Google reviews. But it just really didn't "wow" me, except for the fries which were beautifully crispy and flavorful. Ordered the lamb shank with mashed potatoes, both of which were pretty bland. The lamb was cooked nicely, had a good texture– it was just flavorless, is all. My friend ordered the lamb gyro, which also was quite mediocre compared to other gyros in the area. I don't know, maybe it was just an off-day for these guys, but I just wasn't very impressed.

I come to this place with to high hopes becouse I am from close by country and was hoping for something authentic. However the food disappointed me a lot. Cherry strudel, cheese bakery taste like they been drown to grease and cherry strudel smell absolutely nothing like it should be but as a very old cooking oil. If you don’t know how it taste you may be misleading it as a kind of flavoring but it is not that thing . Also strudel dough felt undercooked an not “risen up” as it must. Cheese bakery felt like undercooked hard noodles. I paid 32 for 2 strudels and 2 cheese bakeries but they all will go to trash. Lady at the checkout been very nice and welcoming and I loved atmosphere of the place it was just incredible so I was very thorned to write a bad review but since I trashed the food I felt like I jsut must do it. The restaurant must clean their cooking trays more often and don’t use old cooking oil !
