I was so excited for this McDonald's to open--well, not anymore! I will just drive a little further to the McDonald's on Olive & 59th Ave as I have done for so many years!
My first visit, on May 6th, was for breakfast. The folks who work there were very nice and the food was okay, but my order was wrong. I ordered the Big Breakfast without pancakes but I ended up paying for and getting the pancakes because I wasn't paying attention before I paid. Mistakes happen, so that didn't annoy me. However, today's visit did more than annoy me, it insured that I will not being going to this McDonald's again.
While workers may make mistakes, corporations & business owners make calculated choices that bring business in or drives it away. Whether this is a corporate-ran McDonald's or a franchise-ran one, whoever is in charge might want to re-consider some of their business practices.
For instance, very little causes distrust or frustrates customers more than to be drawn in by "special" deals that supposedly are at a lower cost, just to find out that the "special" deal costs more than implied or advertised! At this McDonald's, their menu board has a Value Menu, Under $3 section with only one (sm. fries @ $2.99) out of five listed food items actually under $3. The four other food items are H&S McChicken sandwich @ $3.19, original McChicken sandwich @ $3.19, 4-pc McNuggets @ $3.29, and last but not least is the McDouble, which is on this value menu at $3.89! Quite a bit more than McDonald's proudly advertised $2.50 cost & definitely costing more than what the Under $3 section purports to offer. I understand that there can be a difference in pricing between corporate-ran & franchise-ran McDonald's but this smacks of misrepresentation.
In addition, the food quality and preparation really need improvement! The two McDoubles that I ordered were not anywhere near fresh--both had soggy, moist buns and even though, I live within 4 blocks of this place, the hamburger patties were barely lukewarm when I arrived home in less than 5 minutes! The order was also wrong--I ordered one McDouble with extra pickles & extra onion and a second McDouble with no onions which I stressed 3 times! Both burgers were exactly the same, each had one pickle slice and four microscopic onion bits.
There were two positives---the folks who work there were very friendly, energetic, polite, and helpful and the French fries were fresh, hot, and crisp!
Happily, being able to drive increases my options of where to spend my limited funds and it definitely won't be at the new McDonald's on 55th Ave, & Northern! I would not recommend spending your money here if at all possible.
