this location in particular - 2.5/5 Sonic as a whole, as of today - 2.0/5 I've been coming to the Dave Ward (03542-SDI) location two or three times monthly for almost ten years, so with respect to that I'll try to remain as impartial but truthful to my experience as possible. now, the variety and value proposition just isn't there, even with flagrant use of their "rewards" and promotions. sadly, I will likely never come back to this location unless the quality consistency improves. I genuinely don't expect much to change here on either front, though that would be a welcome surprise. my most recent visit solidified this verdict. - location specifics in detail - • their carhops are rather cordial and on top of things a majority of the time. they are the one and only reason I have rated Dave Ward slightly above what I perceive as the average Sonic. • if only the morning crew worked here, I'd give it a solid all-time 3/5 in relation to other fast food options in the area. I grimace to think of what the closing shift leaves for them to walk in to five hours later. • understandably so, their first shift generally has a much better grasp on how to acceptably heat and assemble folded egg, sausage, bacon, and beef into sandwiches and burritos on a flat top. I cannot reasonably assume this is merely a result of the surface being initially somewhat clean when they clock in. • for $5, the burritos used to be packed, fairly large - though the portions have diminished by at least 40% in the last five years - and prepared well enough by their first shift for me to actually look forward to breakfast here. • I've had the fried (reheated) chicken a few times, and was never thrilled by its internal texture, breading, or the dearth of seasoning therein. it's either soggy outside and rubbery inside, or concrete outside and denser rubber inside. this isn't unusual for frozen fast food chicken, but the stale offcuts and scraps will try to break your teeth if you bite into them unassumingly. ○ there have been two incidents where I've placed an order through the app on a midweek morning, and no one was there to open the store - even by 7:30am. ○ ○ I spoke with management and their online support, and was simply told to wait 10-14 days to get a refund to my card, both times (!!). however, the evening crew at Dave Ward: • seems to thoroughly enjoy scraping as much grill char as possible into the overcooked eggs and cheese, which is mostly just rendered fat/grease once you open the foil; you might think it shouldn't need to be said, but it's inexcusably disgusting. your burrito steadily drips blackened grease into your lap after it has fully soaked through the wrapper, and your stomach has done three backflips by the time you dare chancing a second bite. you can't even open them up and attempt to pick the actual ounces of char out from the filling without just wanting to throw the entire burrito in the trash, which I have done at least half a dozen times - every single one of them from the Dave Ward location. • • these were not isolated, one-off incidents. these are habits that are not kept in check or overseen by leadership, if they even bother to look or personally believe that it is a problem. to further drive this grievance home, years ago I made a point to *never* order breakfast items in the evening because they can't seem to get quality control right - which realistically only amounts to meeting three shockingly basic foodservice standards - time, temperature, and somewhat regular cleaning mid-shift. - closing general statements - recently, Sonic at large now lacks an acceptable or reasonable value proposition after pruning their "value menu" down to almost nothing. you get *three* options in terms of individual, actual food items. there is zero redeemable variety, and I can get a much larger burger combo that is miles better in every way for almost the same price if I drive three minutes east to Lewis Crossing. even during happy hour, I can get cheaper drinks at gas stations.

Drinks were good but there was so much mayo on the burger it was inedible. Tomatoes were old and.. no cheese? Sad. :/

I am absolutely appalled by the behavior of the staff at this location. I ordered three floats for my family, and mine contained a hair. I politely sent it back, but when I asked for a refund, the worker demanded the entire order back. I explained that my young daughters were already in the car at the business next door enjoying theirs, and reminded her it violates health policies to take food back. She lost her temper, cursed at me, and demanded to know where my car was. She then stormed over to the next property, literally ripped the drinks out of my children’s hands, and slammed them into the trash can right in front of them. When I asked for her name, she ran away and hid inside. Corporate needs to address this immediately—this worker crossed serious physical and professional lines. I believe it was the manager who was the person. Her name was Sam.

The food was extremely fresh and they got my order right? What more can you ask? A very kind and friendly carhop.
