Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

Normal fast food. Burgers are descent. The service here however is always amazing. I have been here several times over the years and the Ladies and Gentalmen who work the lobby are the most polite ams sincere works in Opelika.

I have eaten at a Whataburger in Florida and Texas. I thought I would receive the delicious, tasty, and fulfilling meal here as well. It was not the case for me. I just didn't enjoy the meal at this Whataburger 😕. It was not good. Will I visit this Whataburger again 🤔 NO!

I like Whataburger, I do, but when I come I'd like to sit in the lobby and get my refills. It's 10:30 pm and your lobby is closed. Your drive thru has 13 people in it and we go to order and get ignored. I'm sorry but what happened to a courtesy of "one moment please"? These days I can't even get that type of response, nothing at all actually. If someone pulled forward in drive thru 2, I assume I can also get service in this lane. Have decency to say a word. I got one -> Goodbye. Change your employees like the other guy said.

I had a very disappointing experience at Whataburger. While eating my fries, I noticed a horrible taste that reminded me of the smell of a dead animal. It completely ruined my meal and made me lose my appetite. The restaurant also appeared unclean, as there were small flies flying around the tables while customers were trying to eat. This made the dining experience even more unpleasant and raised concerns about cleanliness. Additionally, the employee who took my order was very quiet and did not engage much during the interaction. Customer service is an important part of the experience, and I felt that the communication was lacking and not very welcoming. Overall, between the poor food quality, the flies around the dining area, and the lackluster customer service, I was very disappointed with my visit and hope management takes steps to improve these issues.

We stopped at Whataburger, 2501 Gateway Drive, Opelika, AL on June 10, 2026 at 12:30 a.m. as there was no other restaurants open at that time. We had just enjoyed the Road to 16 World Cup Exhibition Match - and decided to get dinner for our family. Our experience at this location was below a zero. Yes, I know the restaurant and drive-thru were both packed; however, that is no excuse for the service we, along with many others received. The location had someone outside taking orders so we were able to place our order but then we were stuck in the drive-thru due to the "locked in" design. We sat in that line waiting for subpar fast food for an 1.5 hours. At 1:50 a.m. there were still two cars in front of us, 6 in the lane beside us, with other's behind us and no food had been brought to any vehicles in 45 minutes at that time. My son went inside (along with another driver of a different vehicle in front of us) to see what the delay was. When he entered the establishment, he was dumbfounded. Apparently the employees thought it was time to party - Rap music was blaring, employees were dancing around, talking, etc. When he finally got the attention of an older (elderly) white female (name unknown), they couldn't find our order - which was for 5 people. They finally found it, but they wouldn't fix the drinks, through the food into bags, and handed it all to my son. They were rude and not helpful at all. We finally were able to exit the drive-thru lane and then two of us had to re-enter the restaurant to fix our families drinks. At that time, we realized we were short 1 drink cup. I had to go into the kitchen area to even get someone's attention to get a cup. When I entered the restaurant, there were lots of people (close to 10) standing around waiting on food (some as long as 45 minutes) and the party with the employees was still in progress. When we finally got back to our hotel - which was across the street - we found we were missing an entire persons meal. The food we did receive was cold (not warm but stone cold like it had been sitting for a while) and unedible - it was awful. Even worse, the hotel we were staying at recommended this location. Personally I wouldn't recommend it for any reason. In my opinion, Whataburger is never been very good (my entire family feels that way) but we thought we would give it a chance - I will NEVER make that mistake again. At this point, I would like my refund because of the issues that my family endured; however, I know that will probably never happen! So the entire chain of Whataburger has lost my entire families business forever!!!
