Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

We were going to grab a quick lunch and head home so we decided to stop here. When we enter we weren't greeted by anyone, there was only other patron in the building. We waited and waited to place our order. Two different employees at different times came to register, looked at us and walked to the back and never came back out. We finally grew tired of waiting on them and left. If someone doesn't want to work stay at home!

I’ll never understand why people work a job they clearly hate. At around 3PM on 08/15/2026 we ordered from the drive thru. A guy took our order as well as helped us once we got to the window. For reference, the guy had long dark hair pulled back in a hair tie/scrunchy. From the start he showed zero customer service skills (not totally abnormal for Daphne) and because he didn’t read my order back to me I asked “just to confirm I just want to make sure you got me for two large fries”. He raised his voice and with an annoyed tone said “YEA!”. Of course me being a push-over I said “ok, thank you!” - nothing..crickets. I pull up and there’s no “hi” “hello” etc. He hands me my food and I say thank you, but again, he says nothing back and shuts the window in my face. Guess what’s not in the bag or on the receipt? My second large fry. He got an attitude with me for confirming that he rang me up for a second large fry but then didn’t even ring it up!? He comes back to the window and said absolutely nothing back as I told him that he forgot to ring me up for a second fry.. He again shut the window in my face, went and got more fries, gave them to me, and as I said thank you, he shuts the window again and walks off. So again, why are we working a job we hate? I’m also really polite in public so there was no reason for him to feel attacked, instigated, bothered, etc. it’s clearly just who he is, but someone should step in and maybe have a talk with him. I won’t be back, but hopefully he doesn’t run off more people. As far as the food goes, the burger was extra dry and that little dime sized squirt of ketchup in the middle didn’t help.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I need to report a serious incident. I went to Whataburger for a burger and fries and left with several questions about the nature of reality. This place is operating outside the boundaries of conventional fast food. I walked in expecting a corporation to hand me a sandwich in a paper bag. Instead, I received a burger so offensively good that I immediately became suspicious of everyone involved. The cashier was smiling. The fries were hot. The burger was assembled correctly. Nobody asked me to pull forward and wait in a parking spot while my food went on a spiritual journey. I knew something was wrong. Then I took the first bite. I have never been more betrayed by my own expectations. I sat there silently, chewing, realizing that I had spent years accepting mediocre fast food as though humanity had simply agreed, collectively, that this was as good as it gets. Apparently not. Apparently there was a better way. And it was sitting under a giant orange sign the entire time. The burger was so good I started examining the receipt like it might contain the name of the chef responsible. I wanted answers. I wanted a witness statement. I wanted to know who in that kitchen looked at a beef patty and said, “Today, we alter the course of this man’s life.” The fries were so fresh I briefly considered writing a letter to my ancestors apologizing for every frozen potato I had ever eaten. By the end of the meal, I wasn’t even angry anymore. I was humbled. I had entered Whataburger as a customer. I left as a believer. Five stars. If this is what fast food has become, I owe several restaurants an apology for things I said about them in 2007.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I have a confession to make. I came to Whataburger hungry. I left with the unsettling realization that I may have just experienced something far more significant than lunch. This place has no business being this good. I walked in expecting the standard fast-food experience: fluorescent lighting, a menu the size of a small legal document, and the quiet understanding that everyone involved is simply trying to get through the day. Instead, I received a burger so good I briefly forgot my own name. The fries were hot enough to restart a dead civilization. The burger was assembled with such confidence that I genuinely felt underdressed eating it. Every bite had me sitting there like a Victorian aristocrat discovering potatoes for the first time. And the service? Beautiful. Professional. Efficient. At one point I caught myself thinking, “These people deserve a bonus.” I don’t know what they’re putting in the grill, but I’m fairly certain at least one ingredient violates international law. By the end of the meal, I wasn’t eating fast food anymore. I was participating in an event. A cultural milestone. A brief and deeply personal encounter with the divine, except the angel had a name tag and handed me a cup of ice. Five stars. I would recommend this location to anyone, including people I actively dislike. That’s how serious I am about it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Walking into this Whataburger is like walking into a fast-food joint only to discover you’ve accidentally wandered into a five-star diner that somehow has a drive-thru. You expect a guy in a headset asking if you want to make that a combo. Instead, you’re greeted with the unmistakable atmosphere of a restaurant where the chef has personally inspected the tomatoes and someone in the back is whispering, “Tell table six their burger is ready.” The burger arrives looking like it has a mortgage. The fries are hot, the bun is doing things a bun has no business doing, and the whole meal tastes like somebody in the kitchen actually gives a damn. I came in expecting fast food and left feeling like I needed to thank the chef and consider a career in diplomacy. At some point during the meal, I stopped eating and started contemplating whether I was still in Whataburger or had accidentally crossed into a parallel universe where Michelin stars are awarded for drive-thru excellence. This isn’t fast food. This is culinary enlightenment with a number on the receipt. Five stars. I would give six, but apparently humanity has imposed a limit on the number of stars a restaurant can receive, because even civilization has failed to keep up with Whataburger.
