The food was so good and came out hot! The servers were nice, professional, and made sure we were taken care of. I really loved the vibe—they were playing gospel and R&B, which made the atmosphere even better. We had a party of about 10 people, and our wait was only about 20–30 minutes, which wasn’t bad at all. I’ll definitely be back, and this spot just made my Top 10. Oh, and it’s Black-owned too! 🖤🙌🏾

I had a great experience at The Toasted Yolk! The food was fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The portions were generous, and everything tasted homemade. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was clean, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxing breakfast or brunch. I’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend The Toasted Yolk to anyone looking for a delicious meal and excellent service! Server-( lightskin man with glasses and locs)

Don't believe the hype and sorority sister reviews. Go somewhere else, it'll be the best decision you made today for brunch. Service is slow and terrible. Kitchen is unable to do basic short order stuff. Bartenders didn't clean anything and had open milk on counter whole time. None of the people behind the bar really knew the drink menu, but it was a lot of drinks and they weren't trained 😑. Staff don't pay attention and delivery whatever to wherever. Incomplete orders shouldn't happen, it shouldn't be a thing not to complete a ticket. Management has no idea what's going on. Roderick should not be in charge, especially for guest relations. He tried to make guest pay extra to remake the meal the kitchen messed up - TWICE. Staff is constantly rotating and don't have good training or know the menu. Feel bad for the few young people stuck here as a first job.

I would love to give this place 5 stars bc we love the food typically. We literally drive 30 min to come to this place bc we follow the brand, but I think today was our last visit for while. If you want any kind of coffee product, do yourself a favor and go to Starbucks down the street while you wait on your food bc you could walk 2 blocks, order, make it back and drink an entire venti before they even attempt to make something you order here. No matter how many times we’ve come, the service is consistently terrible. If you’re coming to a restaurant, you’re quite literally paying for the service of food. On top of a latte taking 25+ minutes to receive, when we finally got our food, our chicken and waffles were already missing the side of hot honey syrup. She asked if we needed anything before she left so we asked her for it and she NEVER CAME BACK despite multiple attempts to get her attention. Our server never checked on us either. Also, our waffles that are supposed to have jalapeños in them didn’t have them. We waited 20 min for ANYONE to approach our table before my husband approached the bar and asked for a manager. The manager came over and we explained that we wanted hot honey syrup and a side of jalapeños but no one has checked on us. He simply disregarded the terrible service by saying how busy they were but by the time he came to us, several tables had been cleared out. When he came back, he brought jalapeños and regular syrup, not hot honey. At this point, we just went with it bc the food was already cold. It’s sad honestly… this place has so much potential, but it’s obvious that the employees are not skilled in the service industry. And I would know because I was a bartender and server for a VERY long time. I really hope the staff including the managers get their act together.

This was our first visit to The Toasted Yolk in Birmingham, AL. It is located on 20th Street North where the outside of Birmingham meets the North Downtown side. We visited on a busy holiday for the area. Juneteenth festivities in the Civil Rights district and the restaurant was extremely busy. I say all this to set the atmosphere. We were greeted by 2 hostesses who were friendly, welcoming and up front about the wait time we would face. When we were seated, our server Amie was warm and welcoming and immediately took our drink orders. She took our food orders when she brought our drinks. She consistently checked in with us while we waited for our food to see if we needed anything or refills and apologized for our wait. An apology I do not feel we were owed because the wait was not that long. Now the important part. THE FOOD! My daughter and I love brunch. We love trying new eggs Benedict’s. I got The West Coast, my daughter got The Alaskan and we shared. These 2 Benedict’s are definitely in the top 5 we have ever had. We will be back and we will tell everyone we know. If you are in Birmingham Alabama, do not sleep on The Toasted Yolk! P.S. the Bloody Maria (Bloody Mary with Patron) is now my favorite Bloody!
