Our server was excellent but that is all that was good. We waited 2 hours for our dinner to arrive. Crab legs were ice cold in some areas and warm in others. Steak not cooked properly, potato sides were inedible (gluey on mashed, fingerlings were cold and hard). Although requesting pan seared on salmon, it came baked. The fish & chips was the only decent meal. We were excited to try after reading reviews, but were so disappointed we would never return. Too long of a wait for mediocre and badly prepared food.

Overrated establishment with poor service and quality of food.
We had a reservation at 7pm and arrived at 6:55pm. Promptly seated, which was nice, and then had our order taken at 7:10pm. Didn’t receive our food until 7:45pm. Only one refill from our server, and no communication regarding the lateness of our food. We also only had our beverages refilled once. I had the halibut cheeks and my wife had the seafood pasta, which she couldn’t even finish due to the lack of flavor and how overcooked the pasta was. She said she could have made a better dish at home, and I believe her.
Keep in mind that if you park in the necessary garage for validation, that this establishment only allots for a two hour time window. Due to this, we had to quickly scarf our food down. When we asked to order the Baked Alaska, our server told us that they stopped serving it three days prior. Seriously? Sounds like malarkey to me.
Overall, yes, the view is pretty. However, if you are expecting a quality date night, go elsewhere and save your cash. What a joke.

We dined at S&S on our last night in Anchorage. Our server was phenomenal and gave great service. The food was superb and cooked perfectly (besides the couscous being over done). The only complaint I have is that every 30 seconds you have a lady screaming “RUNNERS TO THE LINE” “RUNNERS” “RUNNERS”. At first we thought someone was injured, but in reality it was just the line manager letting her servers know they needed to run food. It was this constant screaming that made the atmosphere 3/5 stars. The view was great by the window, which also happened to be the farthest point from the kitchen and yet the screaming was ear piercing. Maybe they should always assume there’s food that needs to be run to mitigate the excessive screaming so that more patrons can actually enjoy the view.

This place is easy to get to and the view of the water is very nice if you can get the right table. The staff is dressed very professional and the service is great. The ambiance does not match the look of the staff. I wore a suit jacket and slacks and my wife wore a nice dress. Many patrons were in t-shirts. Not sure if that is the norm, but it was not what I expected. I will dress down the next time I am in town. We both ordered the grilled seafood trio. That was shrimp, sockeye salmon, and scallops. The salmon was a little dry but flavorful. The shrimp and scallops were grilled perfectly. I would not order that again only because of the salmon. I will go to this place again. The staff is great and the service is great. The patrons we spoke with were super friendly. I forgot about the crab and artichoke dip. That was phenomenal. It came with some slices of crusty bread. I would eat that again and again.

I promise I have never cared enough to write a Yelp or Google review in my life — this is the singular exception. I went to dinner with a friend last night, and waited an hour for a table. I totally respect this, and they were clearly busy. I started getting irritated when our table was ready but nobody would help us pay the bar tab so we could actually move to the dining room. Servers were swarming around the bar but we could not get anyone’s attention with raising our hands/waving or tapping them on the shoulder or asking for assistance, etc. When we did get the bill finally, we were waiting another 20 minutes for someone to actually run the card before we could leave for the dining room. The kicker is that I got to the bar a few minutes after my friend, and never got to order a drink in that hour because the servers were so busy!
Once we got to the dining room, it ended up being another 30 minutes until our server could come over, and 20 more until we got bread, even longer until the drink I finally got to order appeared. Then, ages later finally got to order food. The food and my cocktail were absolutely delicious and I imagine everything else on the menu is great. The service workers are obviously so overwhelmed and this restaurant clearly needs more help to run at full capacity in the summer. Then, same thing as in the bar, waited ages for the check but couldn’t leave because there weren’t any pens around to sign. All in all, got there at 6:30 sharp and weren’t done until 9:15, with only about 30 minutes of that having food and a drink in front of me. I definitely would not come here again in the summer.
