  Mo's is my go-to place for the best pastrami sandwich. The service is great, and everyone there is very personable.

  I was hankering for a sandwich yesterday, and a hot one as it was drizzly and cool in Anchorage. So, I did some googling and found a local shop that caught my attention with corned beef and pastrami,...my heart always flutters when I see those. Mo's Deli in SE Anchorage west of Seward Hwy and off of Diamond. This deli has tradition behind it, although I think the location, they have been there about 7-8 years, in fact the store used to be a Quiznos. The service was great, they helped me determine that the 5oz meat was more than enough, unless I was really hungry or had a big appetite. You can get your sandwiches in 3oz, 5oz and 9oz. I asked the server what was their iconic sandwich and it was their Reuben so I ordered the 5 oz. For your Reuben, you can either choose corned beef, pastrami or turkey, and is constructed with sauerkraut, swiss cheese, russian dressing on toasted dark rye bread. I went with the corned beef. With that sandwich, you also get half a pickle on the side,...which is a requirement in my sandwich diet. The appearance is everything you would think, albeit,....going with a 9 oz would make the appearance much more grand. I wish there would have been a bit more sauerkraut, but that is just me. Frankley, they probably did me a service as they built a sandwich that only the corned beef stood out over the other sandwich fixings, as it should be. Nothing overpowered the meat, yet you could get that taste of kraut and russian dressing in each bit. Maybe a little more cheese, but I am always about cheese. The marbled rye toasted bread was very good, the corned beef was flavorful, except it was a bit tough, which surprised me. When you bit into it, great flavor, but on several occasions, that piece would not break apart with your teeth, you had to real pull and several times I got that entire piece pulled out and slapping against my beard. With that being said,...I am giving the toughness an abnormality in their normal cuts of corned beef..being the first customer in the morning,...maybe it had something to do with set-up...I give them a pass as I do think this is not normal. I will try them again, early afternoon and see if it is more tender. Overall, I would suggest Mo's and I cannot wait to try their pastrami. I give them a 4 stars, only due to the toughness,..but I am positive that my next one will be the five!

  Ive wanted to stop in for a long time. When I had craving for good comfort soup I picked up the beef barley. I didn't get to it til the next day, but it was solid introduction that will have me swinging back in.
