Very disappointed in the bakery at this location, I went in and purchased a slice of German chocolate cake, went to work and after I ate dinner I decided to eat some cake well here comes the disappointment: the cake was chocolate cake with a layer of chocolate frosting on top with a layer of coconut pecan frosting, I have never bought a German chocolate cake from Carrs that has been made like this. I believe it just wasn’t selling as chocolate so they threw a layer of coconut pecan on top and called it German chocolate cake.

Recently remodeled and while the aesthetic is nice the design changes on the singular entry and exit points is absolutely unacceptable. It’s confusing and frustrating to enter by the door nearest the pharmacy (for pharmacy business) only to have to wander to the middle of the store thru a checkout line to find an exit because that door is now marked and blocked as an emergency exit only. Additionally what a pain for the ‘pickup and go’ staff to have to navigate.

Hi, I am hoping that this posts does stay up, I believe it's employees really need to know this, as I have seen this behavior many times shopping there and also receiving it personally. I can understand that Anchorage had a high shoplifting issue in the community, but staff there needs to recognize that not all shoppers there are shoplifters and so they need to stop making the customers feel like they are being judged. I was ringing up items a bit after 5 am on Saturday morning and noticed an item had rung up wrong😲, it was a hair color box originally priced at $13.99 or close to it, but that color along with the colors on each side of it were all marked for $4 each. I called the clerk over, mid-aged, long, dark, but grayish or - silverish strands of hair with glasses, I don't recall if it was pulled into a ponytail or not. Anyways, as I was trying to politely explain, he first cut me off to ask how many bags, which confused me, so I was still ringing up items, hume jumped in and said "he would get to that later" I said that I have food stamps, so we do not get charged for bags, he didn't ask what I was wanting, as I wanted to have the product at the price it said because I had wanted to purchase it, all he did was take the item off, he didn't ask if I wanted to purchase it, he just took it off the order, he certainly made sure that I finished wringing up my items after looking into my paper bag at was in there, I didn't even check to see if the bag was charged or not, just furious. It just always seems or feels like certain people are pre-judged or really watched over in that store and the front clerks really aren't that friendly. We aren't all hoodlums or shop-lifters, we are hard working people trying to get by the best we can, yes, I have foodstamps, I also have children and I am a full-time student working on two bachelor's degrees, and I am employed. It would just be nice not to feel less as a person in that store, because it isn't the first time in this store, your employees are not above its customers. I am also a past assistant bakery manager and employee of 8 years of a Carrs store in Anchorage many years ago, and I have worked customer service for over 30 years.
