Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Customers generally praised the food quality, noting it was delicious and fresh, although there were complaints about overcooked items and cold fries.
Service Speed
Many reviews highlighted slow service, particularly during busy times, with some customers waiting excessively for their orders.
Pricing Concerns
Several customers expressed dissatisfaction with rising prices, feeling that the cost of meals was too high for fast food.
Staff Attitude
Feedback on staff varied, with some praising friendly service while others reported rude or inattentive behavior.
Cleanliness Issues
There were multiple mentions of cleanliness problems, particularly in restrooms, which negatively impacted customer experiences.

Was just recently at this WB, the way your staff treated one employee named Zoe was terrible. They are extremely rude. Will not be going back.

The food is always good but it really doesn’t matter what city or state - theyre just so slow. They’ll make you late to work, an appointment, a fishing trip…they don’t care. Today was extra special. The girl at the drive thru asked me maybe 6 times ehat I wanted. And it was still wrong. Sheesh. I guess I’m eating ehat she decided I wanted. And it was like $12 for a sausage biscuit.

Roxanne is one of the best drive threw workers I have communicated with on the intercom in a long time. She spoke clearly, is polite, & very patient.

Been hitting Whataburger a lot lately for their Spicy Bacon Burger and Sweet Bacon Burger and both have been consistently solid. For fast food, these actually taste great — the buns are soft, the bacon is crispy, the patties are juicy, and the flavors feel a step above most other chains.
Prices are definitely on the higher side for fast food, but the quality of the ingredients and the overall freshness make it worth the slight premium when the service matches. I’ve had quick, friendly service every time I’ve gone, whether in the drive-thru or inside.
It’s a place I keep coming back to because they deliver on quality and consistency. Solid choice when you want something better than average fast food.
