The new chips aren’t as good as the old chips. The new guacamole is just avacado, nothing else. The old guacamole was my favorite in town. And I don’t like the new rice either. This was one of my favorite restaurants. Also, it wasn’t right to tell our server not to give us the type of to go container he did, within ear shot of us. I was glad he gave me a microwaveable container personally. The only thing right about the whole experience was the server, and that the queso is still good. What was up with the salsa being warm? Not warm as in spicy, warm as in actually warm?

We have loved On the Border for over a decade. Go-to favorites that you know what you're getting. Really, this is (was) the only choice for Tex-Mex left in this town. (We have a lot of Mexican restaurants but not a lot of Tex-Mex, and virtually no other Mexican chains.) The menu completely changed as of mid-November 2025, after Pappasito's bought the restaurant chain. We were highly disappointed. Every single thing we would normally order was a complete overhaul. And not for the better! The rice is mushy and heavy with Mexican oregano. Salsa is warm amd watery, and cilantro-forward. (Chips were different, but lighter and crispier. They were good.) Southwest chicken tacos are a complete joke, the only thing similar to the original are the tortillas. Just take them off the menu completely! Don't disguise some new crappy taco as the original! Very disappointed.
*Service was just as great as we were used to. And I understand the local management can't control corporate decisions. But it's still a disappointment. Just want to make it known that this isn't what we've come to expect.

We go to On the Border often. Melissa has been our server a few times and she is great. The new menu will take some getting used to but the food was good and hot when it came out. Never needed anything because Melissa was always a step ahead. Only recommendation is to put bell peppers with the onions for the fajitas.

We had an absolute blast at On the Border tonight, and it was all thanks to our phenomenal server, Melissa. From the moment she greeted us with her warm, infectious smile, it was clear we’d struck gold. She’s the kind of server who turns a good meal into a memorable family outing—professional yet playful, with a personality that’s like sunshine on a cloudy day. An old soul brimming with fun, life, and laughter, Melissa made us feel like old friends catching up.
We started with a massive bowl of their creamy queso and fresh chips—crispy, addictive perfection that vanished way too fast. My wife and I split the beef chimichanga, smothered in that glorious queso; it was crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside, with just the right kick. Our son demolished his enchiladas, declaring them “the best ever,” while my daughter-in-law raved about her entrée (honestly, it was so good I can’t even recall the name—proof of how relaxed and happy we were!).
The drinks? Spot on. My wife’s Patron Margarita was perfection in a glass—smooth, balanced, and not too sweet. I opted for the mango margarita with sugar on the rim, and it was a tropical dream, refreshing and just boozy enough to loosen up the evening.
But let’s talk Melissa’s superpower: her memory. She took our entire table’s order—four picky eaters with custom tweaks—without jotting a single note. When everything arrived flawlessly, we were floored. In an era of rushed service, that’s truly remarkable. On the Border, you are blessed to have her; she’s not just an employee, she’s the heart of the place.
If you’re craving Tex-Mex with top-tier vibes, head to On the Border and request Melissa. Five stars all around— we’ll be back soon!

Went for a lunch today and sat on the patio. Kept being looked at by employees but never got received service. Watched a gentleman be seated at 1:16 and was served chips at 1:19. Went in and asked for the manager. Little did I know, he was the manager. A few more minutes and chips are being brought to our table. I told her we weren’t staying and that I asked for a manager. She said she didn’t see us and I told her it was ok and I’ve already got the manager coming. She got very defensive. The manager came out and I told him we had been sitting there for 20 minutes and he just shook his head and said ‘yeah, I’m sorry’. His body language said he didn’t care. We told him of a chair that almost fell out because of the broke legs. Told him ‘that should be put up so nobody gets hurt’ as we were leaving and he said thank you. When he thought I wasn’t looking, I turned around and he put the chair under a table. This guy clearly doesn’t know what being a manager means, in any way shape or form.
