We had the chicken and waffles and the special that included 2 whole chicken wings, 2 pieces of catfish, one large porkchop and 2 sides. All of the food was amazing, cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The only thing I'm not a fan of, is the hot water cornbread...pretty dry and flavorless. Now, let's address the service. I was very disappointed. No warm greeting, the host had a pretty dry personality but that's not even what irritated me. She didn't check on us throughout the dine-in experience. My mom had to get up and go to the food counter to get her attention and even then, she walked right past my mom. No, "I'll be right with you" or "sorry, how can I help?". She forgot my mom's drink order and she kept swiftly disappearing whenever we tried to get her attention. At some point I just got fed up and decided to take the rest to go. She brought back to go drinks with no straws. She also quoted the cost of the special at $24 but then charged is 27 and change (before taxes). When my kid's food came, I needed an extra basket for them to split, she forgot the liner paper for the basket and then took almost 10 minutes to bring one so my kid's food got cold. Overall, great food, horrible service and experience. And this is why I can't support black businesses sadly.
