  I’m a native Wacoan, and somehow today was my very first visit to Tru Jamaica — and let me tell you, I’ve clearly been missing out. The whole place has such a cool, laid‑back vibe. Comfortable seating, great music, and the kind of service that makes you feel taken care of. We ordered the oxtail and curry chicken, and both were amazing. The beef patty was so good I almost didn’t want to share, and the pineapple‑ginger drink was super refreshing. I’ll definitely be back, and if you haven’t tried this spot yet, you should.

  I was a bit intimidated because I’ve never had Jamaican food before, and was slightly shy to ask for recommendations… but DAMN this food was good. I had the jerk chicken, which was juicy and flavored to perfection. They were kind enough to take my food preferences into consideration when making recommendations, so if you’re looking for a sign to be adventurous and try something new: this is it!

  If you've ever had authentic jerk chicken in the Caribbean or Jamaica, you'll love this! The flavors are incredible and transport you back to the islands! If not, highly recommend - it's hot, spicy, and full of flavor! Waco's lucky to have this talent and flavors! Blessings to Tru Jamaica's restaurant and food truck for a wonderful new year!

  Okay, now this will be about the food. However, the vibe here is A++ First, I'm a VERY picky vegan eater. The Rasta Pasta description over the phone (when my sister called our orders in) had my mouth and belly so ready to eat! The drive from where we called was approximately 20 mins away, and they prepared the food just before we arrived, and it was hot! I had never tasted a plantain, so the owner, Aniston, had me try a piece. It was okay, quite new for me. I may order some next time. Now the Rasta Pasta is usually spicy I was informed. Since I cannot have too spicy, they lightened the seasoning and it was PERFECT! 😋 Then I was given some rice & peas for the remaining broth. Oh my! Food for 3 meals for me. I don't eat much. I WILL BE BACK!!! About a 45-min drive from my daughter's, and about a 90-min drive from my sister's. I currently live in SD, and glad I extended my stay! Yummy 😋

  Friendly faces, great service and amazing food. We found this place back in 2020 during our Waco visit (from Houston) and have been back here every time when we pass Waco (there’s a long “break” due to a fire and then the food truck during the renovation). Very excited to see the re-opened/renovated restaurant (since early November). The chicken and beef patties are tasty, oxtail is my favorite, loves the jerk chicken and the curry goat is amazing. Strongly recommend this place to anyone who craves for Caribbean cuisine ^^
