Pickups at this store are very problematic if you want your groceries brought home safely. The employees loading the plastic bags must be having a contest of how much they can cram into a bag. The bags aren’t designed for that kind of weight, frequently tearing and dropping their contents on the driveway when you go to lift them out of your car. It happens too often to give the store a pass on this common sense item. HEB’s website does allow you to request double bagging, which is good. That would solve the problem. However, the employees rarely follow this instruction. I request double bags frequently, but get them maybe only 20 percent of the time. Why have this option on the website if you’re not going to follow thru? All in all a nice store if you go inside, but a real crapshoot for picking up your groceries.

I started shopping here more often after switching to H-E-B Pharmacy, which is excellent, and the pharmacy also has a drive-thru as an option. Medications are almost always filled the same day, often within a hour or two of them receiving the prescription. My husband also prefers to purchase meat at H-E-B and he thinks they have the best quality meat of all the grocery store options. I favored Kroger originally but their pharmacy had become frequently short-staffed; so after 20 years with Kroger I switched to H-E-B pharmacy. After switching pharmacies I still shopped at Kroger for their Simple Truth organic line of products. As Kroger has been cancelling more and more Simple Truth products, from their Simple Truth organic gluten-free cake mixes to their Simple Truth organic teas, there is very little reason to return. There are many grocery store options in The Woodlands so if a store goes downhill, you can easily switch to another.
