  I recently visited Panera Bread with my fiancé and left feeling disappointed by how he was treated. Upon entering, an Asian staff member seemed to assume my fiancé was there to deliver, instead of acknowledging him as a paying customer picking up food. This misperception reinforced a painful stereotype that Black people are frequently mistaken for delivery personnel, which was hurtful and disheartening in a place that should feel welcoming and inclusive. The incident underscored a broader issue: how casual encounters with staff can reflect and reinforce bias. It’s upsetting when micro‑aggressions or assumptions color the dining experience, making us feel unseen or undervalued. While one moment doesn’t define a brand, it does affect how people perceive a place’s culture and commitment to respectful, equitable treatment of all guests. I hope Panera Bread takes this feedback seriously and uses it as an opportunity to review staff training and guest-service protocols. Clear cues about recognizing staff roles, along with ongoing bias-awareness training, could help prevent similar misunderstandings in the future. If you’re comfortable, sharing the specific date, location, and details with Panera’s guest services can prompt a constructive response and outline steps the store will take to improve the experience for all guests.

  Store had been open for half an hour, at 7:30 in the morning and literally had no hot or cold coffee available.

  If I could give this place negative stars, I would. We were never greeted or even smiled at, asked how our food was or even had someone wish us a nice day when we left. The food was cold. My wife got a cinnamon crunch bagel & a blueberry muffin. Both with stone cold & hard as a rock. She also got a hot chocolate & if there was chocolate in there, it was the ghost of chocolate past. I got the spicy steak bagel. Half of it was pleasantly warm, the other half was as cold as if it was just pulled out of the refrigerator. I had a hazelnut coffee & that was good. For my first experience with Panera & for my wife, who loves Panera, this experience was so pathetic I don't ever want to give Pamera another try & my wife hates bagels again.
