Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Customer service experiences vary widely; some staff are praised for being friendly and accommodating, while others are criticized for rudeness and poor management.
Food Consistency
There are frequent complaints about food quality, including cold burgers and incorrect orders, but some customers still enjoy the food when it is prepared correctly.
Wait Times
Many customers report long wait times, especially during peak hours, leading to frustration over service speed.
Cleanliness
The restaurant is generally noted for being clean, contributing positively to the dining experience.
Staff Performance
While some employees receive high praise for their work ethic and customer service, others are criticized for lack of attention and professionalism.

Place is actually terrible past 10 PM. I really need to stop going here. It’s just the one near my house. Can’t tell you how many times they’ve messed up my order, given me the wrong order, or given me a burger so cold and hard you can literally bang it on a table and it makes a sound.
Just went at 12:30 and ordered a jalapeño cheese number two I asked for one slice of cheese they gave me two I asked for jalapeños they charged me for it and didn’t give me any. Stuff like this happens all time here. Make sure to do better than me and take your burger out of the sack make sure it’s 1. Edible 2. Actually what you ordered.

The elders who work here are awesome. The young staff needs to definitely learn from them very disappointed, my beloved WhatAburger is not Texas family owned. I have to honestly say the burgers are always cold and the cheese is not even melted. It’s rare that I spend my money at whatAburger because of continued disappointment. So I opted for the chicken tenders and was truly disappointed as well I mean come on what happened to the “Texas toast” is it called “Chicago toast” now. The tenders were hard and crunchy. I even put it on my own plate to try and make it more appealing, but it didn’t work. 😡

I called about a week in advance to notify them of a LARGE group of students who would be stopping by on the way back to campus from a field trip. I wasn’t sure if that message made it to today / if they were expecting us but we came in at the peak of lunch rush and Nancy & Eric were so accommodating, helpful, and patient with our students as they ordered and ate.
Thank you to this team!!
