Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Many customers reported slow service, long wait times, and incorrect orders, particularly in the drive-thru.
Food Quality
There were numerous complaints about food being cold, poorly prepared, or not meeting expectations, indicating a decline in quality.
Staff Performance
While some reviews praised friendly and helpful staff, others noted a lack of attention and professionalism, especially during busy times.
Inconsistency
Customers experienced inconsistent service and food quality, with some visits being satisfactory while others were disappointing.

Horrible experience. Went through the drive through and were unable to serve sodas. Took forever to have our food. Food was cold and to top it off the one thing my pregnant wife asked for was white gravy with her chicken strip meals and there was no white gravy.

Full staff that’s half ass doing their job. Slow ppl making sandwiches who seem to care about their appearance if anything two dark haired ladies on the line. Manager playing with stickers on the fridge while everyone else is lost!

I don’t know if this is extremely poor service or just my bad luck, but this is not the first time it happens at this Whataburger. I placed my order through the app, went to the drive-thru, and waited in a line of six cars for literally 35 minutes just to be told at the window that my order wasn’t there—after I had already given my name at the menu speaker.
I was then told that maybe the order was at another location. I showed my receipt in the app, they took a picture of my order, and I waited another 20 minutes. When I finally received my food, the onion rings were literally half the portion, and my burger was missing the add-ons and the extra patty I paid for.
After a long day of work, the last thing I expect is not being able to enjoy a simple meal because someone didn’t bother to prepare my order correctly. I understand system issues happen and that the employees may not be responsible for technical problems—but paying attention to clear instructions like “extra patty” is basic.
This experience was frustrating, unacceptable, and honestly disappointing.

Consistently horrible experiences.
My most recent order, I waited for over 30 minutes in the drive through for a 1 meal order despite there being a single car in front of me. Evidently, my fries waited the whole time too, because they weren’t even warm by the time I got to my house 2 minutes away. My sandwich was incorrect. Seriously, how hard is it to just… NOT put ranch on a Buffalo chicken sandwich? Also, after a 30 minute wait for a botched sandwich & cold fries, they couldn’t be bothered to give me napkins, the ketchup I asked for, or even a straw for my soda. This used to be my late night spot, but I think I’ll just switch to Cane’s the next time I want food after 10pm.
Edit: found out why my fries were cold mid-meal while trying to salvage some nourishment! They didn’t bother cooking them!! Delightful. See photo.
Will absolutely be calling my bank for a refund tomorrow. It’s a freaking French fry. Put it in hot oil & set a timer. This is beyond pathetic. Thank god their chicken comes pre-cooked…
