We had not been to a Pappadeaux in a while. Since we were out of town, we visited and the food was excellent. The bread didn't initially come out warm, but was corrected on site.

We ate here today because i’ve been wanting shrimp. we arrived right before 3 and were seated. not at all busy but we still waited 5-10 minutes for a waitress. She seemed very shy but perhaps was new. the waitstaff stand near drink station and she seems not to be paying attention to her tables. she was looking at and talking to the waiters. Each time i signaled I had to do it several times. Food was good (the shrimp were small but the portion and taste were quite good).

This is my absolute favorite seafood restaurant in San Antonio!! I always get the best service from the wait staff. They are very accommodating and helpful with my orders. The food is always fresh and delicious. And it would not be complete without mentioning my favorite delicious drink, the swamp thang!! Soooooo, good!!! And to top it off, the desserts are delectable and oh so delicious 😋 😍.

Unfortunate experience today. I sat at the bar which is open seating. I was greeted within 2&1/2 minutes which is acceptable for me. Drinks were served promptly. From that point on it seemed like every time I was seen by the bartender, there was a realization that I’d been forgotten, each time… it took 15 minutes or more for them to follow up with me and get my food order after drinks were served. I then waited 20 minutes + for my oysters which were sitting in plain sight, ready to be served to me for a good ten minutes. After they were served and finished, it took another 10-15 minutes for my bowl of gumbo to be served which evidently was forgotten about as well, judging from the bartender’s reaction when I told her I was still waiting on it. I walked in and sat down at 1:35pm and did not get my gumbo until nearly an hour later. All I ordered was oysters and gumbo. Food was good minus the bread. It’s odd because I’ve always enjoyed the bread at Pappadeux. It’s on another level. This time, it was stale which was evident by the smell and texture of the inner dough. It smelled like cardboard and month old crackers. Slow service, uninvested staff, not a manager in sight, and now sub par food. Sadness. Another one bites the dust.
