We were there for a conference and a hosting company paid for our dinners. I had the Cold Water Lobster. I'd never had a lobster that big so I didn't realize that the bitter taste and the tough texture probably wasn't right. I had heard that sometimes larger lobsters aren't as good and could be rubbery. I didn't want to complain (since we weren't paying and I didn't want to embarrass my husband) so I asked for butter to mask the bitter flavour and I choked down as much as I could. I told my husband I thought it had a funky almost metallic taste because I knew it was like something I'd smelled before but I couldn't place it. But this morning I started smelling what I was tasting. It was like ammonia. Hoping I don't end up ill.

Food Review: Chart House
My recent dining experience at Chart House presented a strong contrast between ambiance and culinary execution.
To begin on a positive note, the presentation and atmosphere were exceptional. The restaurant’s location—particularly the elevated tower view—creates a visually stunning and memorable setting that easily merits a five-star rating. The cleanliness of the facilities, including the restrooms, was also commendable, and the staff demonstrated professionalism, attentiveness, and a welcoming demeanor throughout the visit.
However, the dining experience declined significantly when it came to the food. I ordered the Prime Rib (Captain’s Cut), which unfortunately was among the least satisfactory prime rib dishes I have encountered. Due to its quality, I ultimately made the decision to return it to the kitchen.
Additionally, my wife ordered the Shellfish Linguini, which, as she described, lacked seasoning and overall depth of flavor, resulting in a dish that felt notably underwhelming.
It is disappointing, particularly given the restaurant’s pricing and reputation, that the quality of the main dishes did not meet expectations. In fact, it was concerning that the side items—specifically the fries and bread—were more enjoyable than the featured entrées.
In summary, while Chart House excels in ambiance, cleanliness, and service, there is a clear opportunity for improvement in the consistency and quality of its food offerings to align with the overall dining experience and price point.

Not all dining experiences are created equal—this one sets the bar.
From the first glance at the skyline to the final bite of dessert, impressed I was. The view alone commands your attention—an ever-changing backdrop that elevates every moment at the table.
Went on a Thursday evening—smooth from start to finish. No issues getting up or down. Booked dinner for 6, then added an observation ticket (separate from the meal) and timed it just right—caught the sun dropping beyond the horizon around 8pm. If you can, plan for a clear day. The view is part of the experience, and worth maximizing.
The steak? Cooked with precision and rich in flavor, as if guided by the Force itself. The calamari—generous in portion, not the skimpy kind you find at many spots—arrived crisp, tender, and perfectly balanced. The drinks were refreshing, well-crafted, and worthy companions to the meal. Even the bread service set the tone—simple, yet done right.
Service is where this place truly stands apart. Attentive without hovering. Knowledgeable without overwhelming. A team that understands timing, detail, and hospitality at a high level.
And then… dessert. A warm, indulgent finish that leaves no doubt—you chose wisely.
A thoughtful touch: asked about allergies at check-in, they did. Small detail, big difference.
Come for the food, you may. Stay for the view, you will. Remember the experience, you won’t help but do.
Would I return? Already planning it.
If you’re looking for a dining experience in San Antonio that truly delivers on every level, Chart House is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, upscale ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between elegance and comfort—ideal for anything from a romantic night out to a special celebration.
The views alone are worth the visit. Perched atop of the Tower of the Americas, the restaurant offers stunning, panoramic scenery that elevates the entire experience. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish is crafted with care and precision. The seafood is incredibly fresh, the steaks are cooked to perfection, and the flavors are bold without being overwhelming. The New York strip is especially noteworthy—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor.
Service is another standout. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about making your experience memorable. They’re quick to offer recommendations and ensure everything arrives just right, without ever feeling intrusive.
Chart House doesn’t just serve food—it creates an experience. Between the breathtaking views, impeccable service, and top-tier cuisine, it easily stands out as one of the best dining destinations in San Antonio. Highly recommended—you’ll be planning your next visit before you even leave.
We had a phenomenal dinner at this wonderful Chart house restaurant located 750 feet up in a tower (revolving) with a gorgeous view of San Antonio below.
I have to say thank you to the hostess because the first table that she had taken us to was definitely not to our liking (it was a very cramped space) and so we asked her if she would be kind enough to show us to another one and she most certainly did. That changed our entire experience positively for the evening.
After enjoying our cocktails we ordered the shrimp avocado mango stack and burrata for our appetizers which will unbelievably good. The Mahi and the Flounder were such tasty entrées. The mud pie was a perfect ending to a wonderful dinner.
Our server Michael was very attentive and made sure that everything was happening to our liking. Our only "disappointment" for the evening and I think this was probably something that was going wrong at the bar & in the kitchen was that our cocktails and appetizers took forever to come out. In fact, my appetizer came out first and by the time I was done eating it my dinner guest then got his appetizer, something we have "never" experienced at any other Chart House in the country. Thank God our entree's and dessert came out on time. This is the only reason I'm giving service four stars and I don't want this to be a reflection on Michael. We didn't let this disappointment ruin our awesome evening.
