With high-quality made-to-order burgers, a ‘come as you are’ environment and a strange reverence for Chuck Norris, there’s no place else quite like Twisted Root. Way back before ‘gourmet burgers’ was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, after jobs in stock brokerages and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at The Four Seasons & Pappas Bros, Jason & Quincy finally opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006. Twisted Root appeared on the second season of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri (2009) and suddenly Twisted Root was a dining destination in Dallas. While Twisted Root Burger Co. has seen incredible growth, Jason & Quincy have stuck to their roots and their senses of humor, using a hands-on approach to high-quality, fresh food in an casual atmosphere with tons of personality.
Mixed reviews on food quality; some praised the burgers while others reported cold, soggy, or bland items.

Most excellent! Great food, most delicious. Riverwalk view from the deck earing area. The hungry birds are friendly and hopeful for handouts but are respectful of your space.

First, let me just say that for the most part it was a good experience. Good food, decent staff, semi-clean tables.
However, due to staffing issues (as we were told) we were not able to order what we wanted (specifically the “fried ride” sampler platter). Also, the unsweet tea and watermelon tea were out.
I do appreciate the fact that they had a GF bun option. That was nice.
Overall, I might try this place again on a different day of the week (we went on a Friday at about 6:30-7pm).

What a disappointment. It was all cold and soggy. Overpriced for the poor quality.
Not to mention poor customer service. Person taking our order was rude and didn't even greet us even though we'd never been to one of these places.
Rather have burger king.

Over priced cold fries, greasy onion strings soaking through the plates, rude service and bland burgers.
Would not recommend, go to Burger King for a much better experience.

The food was good as well as the service. The huge lettering of words over the counter will keep me from partaking of this eating establishment ever again!!!!! I know San Angelo is a college town but this…is absolutely not presentable as a family restaurant. Betty Pierce
