With high-quality made-to-order burgers, a ‘come as you are’ environment and a strange reverence for Chuck Norris, there’s no place else quite like Twisted Root. Way back before ‘gourmet burgers’ was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, after jobs in stock brokerages and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at The Four Seasons & Pappas Bros, Jason & Quincy finally opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006. Twisted Root appeared on the second season of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri (2009) and suddenly Twisted Root was a dining destination in Dallas. While Twisted Root Burger Co. has seen incredible growth, Jason & Quincy have stuck to their roots and their senses of humor, using a hands-on approach to high-quality, fresh food in an casual atmosphere with tons of personality.
Many customers praised the burgers for being delicious and well-seasoned, but there were also numerous complaints about cold, soggy fries and inconsistent food quality.

The food was tasty, but I felt the place was a bit neglected, kind of dirty. Still, the service was good, and we enjoyed spending time there by the river

We typically make a point to go to Twisted Root when we are in town. We were in yesterday and I will say we were disappointed in the friendliness of employees. The girl (had stars on her face) taking orders seemed annoyed she had to be at work. While we were ordering another employee came over to note a mistake in a previous order and she said it was all the people’s fault because they didn’t order the right thing, not hers. We ordered in three separate orders, mine being the last. The rest of the family was halfway through eating and I hadn’t gotten my food. I walked over to the Order counter to check on my order. Another worker asked if I needed something and I told her I was waiting on my order since the rest of my family was almost through eating and I didn’t have my food. She just walked away. I did finally get my food a few minutes later. While the burger was delicious, I am disappointed in the level of customer service. If you don’t enjoy interacting with people you should find a different type of job.

We stopped at Twisted Root Burger Company while traveling for my son’s basketball game, and it was the perfect choice. I ordered the Gosh Jam It Burger, and it was absolutely amazing—juicy, flavorful, and packed with the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Easily one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time!
The atmosphere was fun and laid-back, the service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out hot and fresh. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. This is the kind of place that hits the spot after a long day of work and then traveling out of town for games.
If you’re in San Angelo and craving a great burger, Twisted Root is a must. I would definitely stop here again the next time we’re in town!

Great burgers, we split the Millionaire burger and an order of misc fried things. The pickle bar is unusual, they are all strong.
The best part-- we could take our puppy because she's allowed on the back patio. This means we will be returning since we can both eat there at the same time.

I users to love this place, within this last year they have gone downhill so much it’s disappointing. I went and the staff is very rude. Sit down to eat my sandwich and there’s mold on my buns! thank god i check out my food before I eat, I’ve seen multiple people say they got food poisoning from here. Took it back, once again they were very rude and took forever to get it out, keep in mind it wasn’t busy maybe 3 other ppl there. 50$ for two moldy burgers and some fries. Never again am I going until management changes.
