I used to love this store, but today’s experience was very upsetting.
I had two clipped coupons for Too Good Creamer, which should have brought the final price to $0.99 each. However, only one coupon applied at self‑checkout. An associate named Crystal Cooper came over to assist, and from the start, the interaction became uncomfortable.
She repeatedly insisted that I had an item in my cart connected to an online pickup order. I explained that I added the item to my app cart only to check the final price, but she continued saying I “was not listening.” After she manually adjusted the price, she walked away without saying anything. I asked, “Are you done here?” because I wasn’t sure if I could continue checking out. Instead of answering, she called me rude.
I was confused and shocked because I had been smiling and trying to be polite the entire time. She claimed I was “laughing at her” and that even the tone of my question was rude. I truly did not understand what was happening. She frequently interrupted me while I tried to explain, but I stayed calm and tried to resolve the issue. When I pointed out the interruptions, she again said it was because I “was not listening.”
When she paused, I asked, “Can I talk?” She reacted with visible frustration and repeated that I was rude. I explained that English is my second language, and sometimes my tone may not come across the way I intend. I was trying my best to communicate clearly. Instead of acknowledging that, she lectured me about how to shop, and I felt extremely embarrassed as other customers were watching.
I told her that being called rude when I was trying so hard to be polite was hurtful, and I asked whether her attitude toward me was because I am Chinese. She became more aggressive and said, “That didn’t come out of my mouth.” This left me even more confused—my feelings don’t have to be verbally stated by someone else to be valid.
Later, when I rechecked the prices, I saw the discount still wasn’t applied correctly. When I explained the calculation again, she pointed at my phone and showed that one coupon said “pickup only,” which I honestly had not noticed. I immediately apologized for the mistake. At that moment, her attitude suddenly changed—she became cheerful, applied the discount anyway, and said she could “do that for me,”
This made the entire situation even more confusing. If she was able to apply the discount from the beginning, she could have simply explained that one of my coupons wasn’t valid for in‑store purchase but that she could still honor it. I don’t understand why I had to go through a conversation that left me feeling humiliated and disrespected.
I shop at many grocery stores and at Tom Thumb frequently, and I have never experienced anything like this. Until today, I have not had any issues at this location. But after this interaction, I honestly feel nervous about returning. I do not want to feel taken advantage of or spoken to disrespectfully while simply doing my grocery shopping.

Pharmacy review : ❤️
Meyonnce and Dianna are two of the best pharmacy technicians I’ve come across. They’re always kind, helpful, and professional, and they make every visit so much easier. You can tell they really care about people and take pride in their work. They stay patient, positive, and always make you feel welcome. Great service like theirs does not go unnoticed — they’re truly an important part of the pharmacy team
