Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Customers reported inconsistent service, with some praising friendly staff while others experienced slow service and order mistakes.
Food Freshness

Cleanliness
The restaurant was generally described as clean, but some reviews mentioned dirty tables and unsanitary conditions.
Order Accuracy

Customer Experience
Positive experiences highlighted friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere, but negative experiences included long wait times and poor management responses.

Can't believe I never rated this Whataburger before! Thought for sure I did it like 8 years ago. Anyways, this location rules - staff as friendly as Chik-fil-A, food far more affordable, best burgers in town, tons of options. I always customize my burgers, and they get it right every time. I love that! Brioche buns, sautéed onions, spicy ketchup... so good. I love that you don't have to pay extra for toppings like lettuce and tomatoes, and the honey butter chicken biscuit is the perfect post-midnight snack.
I wish more places were open 24 hours, but Whataburger being one of them is an absolute blessing. No matter the time of day, this place has ya covered. Pro-tip: you can add bacon and tomatoes to the grilled cheese, makes a really cool side dish or snack. This is also my favorite place to pick up food after lifting weights, most of their entrees are over 30g protein and it's more palatable than having another protein shake. The chicken strip sandwich is great, and I'm glad they do chicken strips instead of nuggets. Loads of sauces to choose from, depending on your mood.
I wish they'd bring back the A1 Thick & Hearty, and some of their other special burgers from the past. The patty melt, avocado bacon burger, Monterey melt and standard cheeseburgers loaded with toppings are great, but the A1 T&H in particular... that was so perfect. Speaking of perfect, the "ranchero style" breakfast burger might be the single best burger I've ever had. If you can handle a little spice, give it a try!
A friend of mine visited from another country a few months ago, and earlier today he said that he missed the ranchero breakfast burger and the patty melt the most out of everything he had in the USA. 🤣 He agreed they're essentially the burger, perfected. 👑

I was in the drive thru. Was asked to pull into the parking lot. Waited for my dried burgers and cold fries for 20 minutes.

This Whataburger is like no other. They make me feel like they know me when picking up my to go order; always pleasant and kind. I remember one time I asked for a grill chicken sandwich fresh. But I was sitting there and I watched the cook grab my chicken (or someone else’s idk) from the bin; n just when I was going to say something; I seen the manager work her magic; n I seen a requested order being fulfilled; n I know yall may be like “you doing too much” but I disagree. I have my desires to have things the way I want them but I goto places who advertise they cook the foods I like the way I like it. So sometimes I’m okay with my bin chicken but sometimes I want that smothering hot, burn my lips; dripping heat sweat chicken off the grill really bad. It’s satisfying and deliciously fulfilling to me! So at the end of the day I love WHATABURGER GRILL CHICKEN! This store always deliver. N the kindness keep me going back.
P.S.: Thanks to all yall at this store; they need to make you all a training store cause other stores need some help. Be blessed 😉
