Established in 1991. Cafe Gecko opened in Addison in 1991 and closed its doors in November 2021 after its lease was not renewed. The closure came after 30 years of operation, and the founder, Dennis Dial, moved the business to downtown Plano to reopen. The new location at 1410 K Avenue continues the restaurant's Caribbean-inspired food and atmosphere, including the original antique bar, bar top, metal ceiling panels, and tables. Mike and Carla Waddell now own Cafe Gecko Eastside, long-time restaurant/bar owners of Richardson Bar and Grill, and formerly The Endzone Sports Bar in Plano.
