I don’t usually shop at this H-E-B location, but I happened to be driving by and decided to stop in because I’ve always trusted H-E-B to maintain consistent quality across all stores. Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing.
I purchased tripe to use in a beef stew, but after cutting into it, I realized it was almost entirely fat. I’ve purchased tripe from other H-E-B locations before, and it has never been prepared or stocked this way. This was not usable, and I was unable to eat it it didn’t even taste like proper tripe.
In addition, the salmon I purchased spoiled the very next day, which raises serious concerns about freshness and quality control at this location.
This experience did not meet the standard I’ve come to expect from H-E-B. Based on this visit, I would not return to this location.

H-E-B is basically the grocery store in Texas, and once you shop there for a while, it kind of ruins other supermarkets for you.
First off, it just feels better to shop there. The stores are usually clean, well-organized, and not chaotic in that “why is this aisle always a disaster?” way you get elsewhere. The produce section is consistently solid—fresh fruit, good veggies, and a lot of Texas/local stuff depending on the season. It’s one of those places where you can actually trust that what looks good… is good.
The meat department is another win. Decent prices, good quality, and the staff will actually help if you need something specific instead of acting like you’re bothering them. Same vibe with seafood and deli—pretty reliable across the board.
One thing people always mention (and it’s true) is the H-E-B store brand stuff. A lot of it is just as good as name brands, sometimes better, and cheaper. Tortillas, chips, basic pantry stuff, dairy—it all hits. Once you start grabbing their brand by default, you stop caring about the national brands pretty quickly.
The ready-to-eat section is also underrated. Rotisserie chicken, hot foods, sushi in some locations, quick grab-and-go meals—it’s not gourmet, but it’s actually good for what it is. Super helpful when you don’t feel like cooking.
Prices overall are fair, especially compared to bigger national chains. You can definitely shop cheap here without feeling like you’re buying low-quality stuff.
Only real downside is it gets busy. Like, really busy during peak hours, and parking can be annoying at the bigger stores. Also, popular items sometimes sell out fast because everyone else already knows what’s good.
But honestly, that kind of just comes with how popular it is. At this point, H-E-B is less “a grocery store you go to” and more just the default place Texans expect to shop.

At this H-E-B location (Jazsmin Lead Business Centre – possible managers Carol or Katya), I experienced a situation that exposed major gaps in both customer security and employee judgment.
My son accidentally left my debit card at the register immediately after a purchase. When he returned moments later with the receipt (showing the last four digits of the card), he was refused access to retrieve it.
From there, the situation became inconsistent and concerning:
One employee told him to have me send a photo of my ID. I did so immediately.
I then called and offered FaceTime verification to confirm identity in real time.
Another employee, Jazmin, stepped in and refused all verification options... even those previously suggested by staff.
Meanwhile, my debit card was being kept on top of her personal phone, which raises serious concerns about how sensitive financial items are being handled.
This was disorganized, inconsistent, and lacking basic problem-solving.
Even more concerning:
No manager was available to assist, despite there allegedly being two assigned.
No attempt was made to escalate or resolve the situation logically.
Because of this, I had to cancel my card entirely due to loss of trust in how it was handled.
What needs to change:
Clear, consistent verification protocols (receipt + ID + live verification should be sufficient)
Proper training on handling sensitive financial items
A strict rule against placing customer property on personal devices
Manager availability for situations involving customer security
This is 2026, customers expect both security AND competence. This experience reflected a lack of both.
