The place is hot “needs ac” no blowing fans outside. This is place that has a lot kids to run around. Waiting long for a table that I left.

Great service. Very friendly. Beef fajitas were not grilled, they were braised, which was weird. They were really tender but didn't taste like fajitas. Love the salsa, has a nice heat.

I’m honestly shocked at how bad our experience was here. The food came out looking like it had been sitting in the kitchen for way too long. The chalupas were soggy with water underneath, the tomato topping was watery and way over ripe or on the verge of going sour, brown withered lettuce, and the texture overall was just…off. It genuinely didn’t feel fresh or properly prepared. We politely brought it up, but things went downhill from there. Our waitress told us they couldn’t remove the plates because my husband had taken ate one chalupa which we explained that he had low blood sugar so had to eat something. The waitress wasn't attentive and rude hardly checking on us and going to hide inside or talking at the bar. That alone was frustrating, but the manager made it worse. She initially said she would take the item off the bill, then turned around and charged us for it anyway. To top it off, we were met with attitude and uncomfortable looks as we were leaving, which made an already bad experience even worse. Bad food happens sometimes. What really matters is how a place handles it. In this case, customer service was nonexistent, communication was inconsistent, and we left feeling completely dismissed. This is our second bad experience with this location and we haven't been here in years, we never have issues at the San Marcus location. We won’t be coming back.

Herbert's is a classic Mexican restaurant that features good southern TexMex. It is fantastic, fresh food, fresh ingredients. The taste is spot on for where we grew up in south Texas. It is perfect. Enchiladas are filled well and plates have awesome sized portions. Unlike more fancy Mexican restaurants that give you very little for a high price this place is the place to come. From the clientele , it sure looks like a local favorite. You get what you feel is a fair price for your food and you get high quality food. Wake up huge outside setting area underneath trees really beautiful inside is gorgeously decorated; lots of colors and pop. Everything's taken care of immaculately. Plus the staff is so sweet. Give Herbert's a try.

"Herbert's is a local staple for authentic Tex-Mex, and it’s one of the best family-friendly spots in the area. The atmosphere is fantastic, offering both indoor and outdoor dining. A huge plus for parents is the outdoor playground—it’s the perfect way to keep the kids entertained while you enjoy your meal! The food is consistently good. I highly recommend the Enchiladas Tejanas or their famous Carne Guisada—the gravy is rich and the meat is always tender. If you're there for breakfast (they open early at 7:00 AM daily!), the Chorizo and Egg tacos are a must-order. For lunch or dinner, their Crispy Tacos and Salsa never disappoint. Service can be a bit 'hit or miss' depending on the crowd. Sometimes it’s lightning-fast, and other times it can be a little slower when they are packed, so just be prepared if you’re going during peak hours. They stay open until 9:00 PM (and 10:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays), making it a reliable stop for a late dinner. Overall, 4 stars for the great food and the wonderful setup for families. It’s a classic choice for anyone in the Texas Hill Country looking for a solid Mexican meal!"
