- CSChad SmithApr 2, 20261.0Experienced the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in service. So they have limited self checkout to max 10 items. I get the idea, but the self checkout was only that busy because you only open two lanes. So now you have self checkout at 10 items, 4 lanes that are pointlessly at 15 items and two lanes of full cart groceries. Then the silly 2 lane 25 item with an angry bagger. So ultimately, if you have 16 items at HEB, you will be shaken down your items counted, and told you have to stand in the eternal 2 lines 5-6 full carts deep. So the store has poorly staffed their cashiers and then put that inconvenience onto the customer. I spoke with Amber, some sort of manager. She said that I could go through the 15 items line with my 25 items. Wow, thanks for the variation! Corporation cuts all cashier and bagger labor, then all the options that would be efficient, those are max 15. So if you get more then 15 items, pack a lunch, the lines for the two options will be to the back of the store. So just this week they are policing this and counting items and turning people away. Make this make sense. I loathe Walmart, but I’ll go back. At least their self checkout makes sense.

The store is immaculate, and the variety of Each item we looked at was amazing. You must visit here when in Midland. Have some Great BBQ as well! The lady at the counter is very friendly!
