What happened was that we had an order from the address “citizens way” changed to carry out and the guy that came to pick up an order said the name of such person so I asked to be sure “are you the people from citizens way” and I guess he probably misheard what I said since my voice isn’t really as loud 😭 I’m sorry for any confusion and I would never ask anyone for their citizenship status as my parents are also from mexico 😭

An employee asked him if he was a citizen simply because he chose to pay in cash. Let that sink in. In the current political and social climate, where discrimination and racial profiling are very real concerns for many communities, comments like this are not harmless or “jokes.” They reinforce harmful stereotypes and create an environment where people feel targeted and unwelcome for no reason other than how they look or how they pay. Paying in cash does not justify questioning someone’s citizenship. That is discriminatory, inappropriate, and unacceptable in any customer service setting. Businesses have a responsibility to create a safe and respectful environment for everyone. This employee’s behavior reflects a serious lack of cultural awareness and professionalism. Management needs to take immediate action to address this and ensure proper training so no other customer experiences this kind of treatment. Victor was the gentleman who made these comments.
