Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

On 3/21/26 around 5:15pm, every table in the restaurant was empty and every table was filthy. Every table. Wadded up napkins on the table, fries on the floor, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned all day. There was an employee wandering the parking lot picking up trash- maybe redirect him to the inside, seems more important. The guy running the cash register would leave the counter and clean a table or two and then wander back to the counter. It’s like he knew there was an issue but was clearly not the one expected to clean it, and no one else being directed to clean it. Plenty of staff there that night, lots of employees standing around, and one wandering outside. There was a manager in a red vest, but he was clearly not in control. Soda fountain was out of ice. Took 20 minutes to refill. Meal was delivered with no napkins or catsup, had to go behind the counter and get my own. Off night, but it didn’t have to be. They had the staff, just not the direction.
