Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Feedback on customer service is mixed, with some praising friendly staff while others report rude and unprofessional behavior from management.
Food Quality
Customers frequently mention issues with food quality, including cold fries and incorrect orders, though some also praise the freshness of the burgers.
Wait Times
Many reviews highlight long wait times, both in the drive-thru and for food preparation, leading to frustration among customers.
Cleanliness
Several customers noted cleanliness issues in the restaurant, particularly during busy times.

His service was impeccable. I have not received drive thru customer service like this in years. I come to this location all the time. He asked questions for add ons and not just will that all like the other. He is the definition of what a making a customer feel valued as well as what whataburger stand for.

The food was delicious usual. The service was great and it was clean unlike some of the other Whataburger I’ve been too. The lady who works there, Koko who took my order was so nice and professional.

Most unpleasant Whataburger experience ever the night Manager, who wouldn’t give me his name and stood 30 feet away so I couldn’t read his name tag decided my good friend a 100% disabled combat veteran with 10 years active duty, simply asked for his free veterans coffee which he had received many times before at that exact Whataburger in the parking lot of Home Depot off Fry Road across from Walmart.
Now there’s a big sign on the counter right between the registers that states “serving coffee for those who served. Free 16 ounce hot or iced coffee for veterans and active duty military.
The fine print read, Must be present with ID to receive. In restaurant only in participating locations.
One coffee per person then it says Whatabrands LLC. dlc. Veteranscoffee coffee 0125.
My friend had his ID, which stated on the license disabled veteran. And the manager then said oh as he started stuttering and said something about only on Tuesdays so that’s when I started to read the sign in front of me out loud. It doesn’t say anything about Tuesdays. He said the sign on the drive-thru says Tuesdays. this manager had some sort of meltdown at the counter and said OK now you’re definitely not getting a coffee because you want to be extra. I thought the customer is always right and my friend is a veteran and he wanted his coffee so I’m trying to have a conversation with this so-called manager and he picks up the phone to call the police and then the lady working the drive-through said they’re already here they’re in the drive-through so I let him know that that was not gonna be the end of this just for the point that he’s denying my friend his coffee when he had 6 tours over there, fighting for our freedom so he deserves his coffee when he wants his coffee. We purchased about $50 in food so it’s not like we just went in trying to get a free coffee.
So I asked for his managers name he stated it was on the window by the door. I asked him for his name. He said it’s right here on my name tag if you could read, but he was standing so far away at that point, I could barely see that there was a name tag. Totally unnecessary everything he did after that point was unacceptable. I had left my phone in the truck so I couldn’t film any of this. I wouldn’t want this guy running a lemonade stand for me let alone a Whataburger. We grabbed our food, walked out and got in the truck. I drove around to the drive-thru and I got in line to get a pic of the sign on the window. The police officer was at the window. You can see the manager at the window pointing down at my truck when he saw me pull in, but there was a car in between me and the police officer and I didn’t wanna wait in line to get a picture so I pulled out, pulled right by the cop into a parking place. Walked over with my friends phone to the drive-thru window. Spoke to the officer told him man things got weird in there really fast and he said yeah I heard I’m gonna look into it I told him he refused my veteran friend his coffee and then acted like a fool and that I was taking a picture to accompany the email to corporate. I turned and I took a picture of the sign on the drive-through window, which is the same exact sign that was on the front counter. When he got belligerent and refused to give us his name it made it impossible to let this go on principle alone. I told him that this was not the end of this and he had nothing but his poor management and people skills to blame. This was absolutely the worst experience ever at any Whataburger. I don’t think either of us will ever return to that whataburger again. I’m sure we are not the first customers this person has run off and won’t be the last if
Something is not done about it. Very disappointing.
Side note, Now after we ate and investigated a little there is a tequito Tuesday where veterans can get a free taquito but only on Tuesdays coffee 24 hours a day, 7 days a week this guy needs a new job but not in customer service.
