Some of the staff are great, mainly the Indian staff can be a rude and difficult to understand. Sometimes the sandwiches are great, other times very skimpy and not worth the higher price. Last night I walked by the counter and saw a manager direct a staff member to reach into the bottom of the lemonade vat that sits in the front near the soda machine. The staff person had a plastic glove on that covered his hand and up to the very bottom of his wrist. While his hand was in the lemonade, he had to immerse about 3 inches of his arm into the lemonade as well. The worker (and supervisor) were looking around to try to be discreet (that’s what it looked like to me). Well, someone did see 🖐️.
They put the lid on, and continued working. At the time, I was the only customer in the area. Sunday evening was very slow in the travel center. Before leaving, I went to the Charley’s counter where the supervisor was ready to take orders at the register and asked him if he could please “just out of human decency (and OSHA) not sell that lemonade”. He said “but he was wearing a glove”, to which I explained how much of the arm was submerged in the lemonade as well. The supervisor knew, he was directing it. Then when I asked him again just not to sell it please, he said “ok” very quickly and uncomfortably. Oh he continued selling that lemonade alright! I watched him. I’ve been stuck here in the area all weekend. Sucks to know how unsanitary these restaurants are inside.
