Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Customers praised the burgers and fries for being delicious and fresh, but there were complaints about cold or improperly cooked food.

Has the best hamburgers in fast food, the price reflects it sadly but it is worth it. They are really quick with the order fulfillment. I'd highly recommend the sweet and spicy bacon burger.

Worst Whataburger I've ever been to. Placed an order to pick up. Told them I was there. The older lady handed me a small coffee cup, I ordered a large. I got the right cup as she said something to herself & I could tell she was taking about me. I had to go get my own coffee, they didn't do it. After that they said my order was ready. I got to the counter & the older man reached into the bag with my name on it, took out the hashbrowns & put them into a drive thru bag. I said hey that's my order... why are you giving it to the drive thru, I've been waiting to get my food for over 5 minutes. The lady making the hashbrowns says it's going to be 3 more minutes for my food...ummmmnm what?? They were rude. I felt like they were taking about me & treating me bad because I'm white. That's what it felt like. I've never had that experience before. They were all black but the fry cook. A lady appearing to be the manager was at a table with a laptop & mouthed, "I'm sorry." I was just passing through while traveling. I will never go to that Whataburger again. I tried to be as kind as I could & did nothing to deserve being treated like trash.

Traveling late at night often demands a brief pause—a chance to stretch, refresh, and find a bite to keep the road manageable. On a recent drive, I stopped at Whataburger with modest expectations: a restroom break and a simple order of fries and a drink. What I found left me with mixed impressions.
To begin with the positives, the restroom was commendably clean—an essential for any traveler and not always a given during late-night hours. The exterior of this location also carries a certain nostalgic charm, with its classic layout and vintage design. There’s potential here for the restaurant to lean into that heritage and create a memorable roadside stop.
The service was polite, though the restaurant was out of large cups, a small but noticeable inconvenience. The fries were made fresh to order, which I appreciated. However, execution fell short. Though hot to the touch on the outside, they arrived undercooked within—frozen in the middle, as if the oil had not reached proper frying temperature. For a brand that prides itself on consistency, this was a misstep.
Cleanliness beyond the restroom was another area for improvement. While the surfaces appeared freshly wiped, the corners, floors, and less obvious areas betrayed the need for a deeper scrub. A touch of TLC could transform this well-located, charmingly old-style restaurant into an outstanding stop for weary travelers.
In short: a mixed visit. The bones are good, the atmosphere holds promise, but consistency in both cleanliness and kitchen execution will determine whether this location shines as brightly as the brand’s reputation.
