Each time I’ve come to Xochi has been early before the crowd hits but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the service, ambiance, food and drinks. The TLAYUDA DE POLLO | roasted chicken, mole negro, quesillo, refritos, greens was really good and filling I also loved the duck confit tacos and guava cheese cake the corn mezcal drink was amazing definitely my favorite of them all. The service is quick and prompt they’ve very accommodating and knowledgeable. The manager even suggested the jalapeño mezcal marg and I really enjoyed it. The mole was great and the quality of the food always tastes good. I really enjoy the level of service and quality of food and ambiance. I look forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu!
Got sick… really sick!!!
We decided to eat here during a Medical Conference, since it was located in the same hotel. Service was good, the atmosphere was nice and the food tasted great… until we got sick, seriously sick!!!
How do we know it was their food?
My wife started with symptoms 1 day after our visit, and we didn’t think it was related, so I had her leftovers… 2 days later, the same symptoms. Although by this time my wife's condition was worse, spiking fevers, watery constant diarrhea, and severe abdominal and epigastric pain.
I forgot to mention, we are both physicians, and we came to the conclusion this could be more than a "stomach bug" (virus), lasting longer then expected. So we visited our PCP and ran labs… it was E. Coli (bacterial).
Day after starting a regimen of Ciprofloxacin and Metronidazole, symptoms started to go away.
This is completely unacceptable from any restaurant, considering any bacterial infection has to do with cleanliness and proper food preparation by Staff. I would like management to take this seriously since this concerns overall Public Health.
As a Physician I wonder how many more might’ve fallen under the same experience and were not aware they got sick due to their lack of understanding how bacterial infections work.
Im not blaming the entire establishment, other plates, meals, and deserts ordered were delicious, and serving staff was incredibly amazing... it was just that dish and the way it might have been prepared.
It is difficult to think of going back and spend good money on good food... specially when that food is trying to kill you a few days later.

Xochi is always one of our go-to spots, especially when we’re heading to a game downtown. Every time we come, the experience is consistently excellent. The food is incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. Even my husband who isn’t typically a seafood person always finds something he truly enjoys, which says a lot.
You can really feel the quality and care that goes into all of Hugo’s restaurants. We’ve loved them for years, and while we’re still patiently waiting for Backstreet to reopen (and secretly hoping Prego makes a comeback somewhere!), Xochi continues to deliver every single time.
What really stood out during this visit was the service. Alexandria and Alexa went above and beyond to help me adjust my reservation. They were kind, accommodating, professional, and genuinely welcoming. It wasn’t just good service it was the kind that makes you feel valued and taken care of.
That level of hospitality alone is enough to keep us coming back. Xochi never disappoints.
If you are only here for a day and can only choose one restaurant, choose Xochi! OMG the food. So delicious. I got to try a really special appetizer that I'd never heard of, Escamol. The tuna was perfectly cooked and a well composed dish. The chocolate cake 🥰 my beloved. Please try it, even if you're not vegan. It was mouthwatering.
Okay now for the service. Francisco: the best server ever!! He knew about every dish and helped me not only pick the best stuff but get excited about it. After I tried the Escamol he told me it is only available in 2 restaurants in the US which was a nice touch because now I feel extra fancy, as well as adventurous. As a side note, the way he identified the different elements of each dish after setting them down using the bar spoon was SUCH A GOOD IDEA it really upped the "I have something special in front of me that I get to enjoy" factor, and helps you appreciate each plate. Plus he just overall was pleasant and had a cool vibe.
Extra bonuses: They offer a separate menu for vegans and vegetarians and there are several cocktails that can be made sans alcohol and still taste AMAZING, possibly better. Also, I really appreciate that someone from the restaurant opened the door for me on the way in and out. Not sure if this is standard, sorry men it may be a ladies' only treat, but it was appreciated greatly!
